It's a couple of hours after Neal slips out that Peter heads home.
He hadn't gotten the chance to ask what was going on before Neal left, but he'd had some idea that it wasn't a good day, and while he's not sure he'll be here -- well, he was pretty confident in his instincts even before he had something to back it up. He lets himself open up a little more as he heads up the stairs, and it only takes a moment to know that he's definitely there and get an idea of how bad it is.
"Hey," he greets Neal quietly after he lets himself in, shutting the door behind him. "Feeling better?"
Neal barely registers that there's anyone else in the house. He's three quarters of the way asleep and the last of the tension is leaving him. His head still hurts, yes, but that's just something he's gotten used to. They come on every now and then, the headaches, they sneak up on him and stay with him for days on end. Luckily they do leave after a while, so there's that.
It's the house nudging him that makes him blink, forcing himself the rest of the way awake. He pushes himself upright, staring at Peter, then looking down at his watch.
"Hm, it was definitely at least an hour ago, last time I checked." He smiles a little and stretches. "I'm better. Sorry I didn't talk to you, I just...Needed to go."
"It's fine," Peter assures him, shedding his jacket and his holster before coming to lean against the arm of the couch. "But next time, try to say something before it gets that bad, okay?"
The house is bouncing between Peter and Neal now. She is wrapping her arms around Peter and latching on and then darting back to Neal and pouncing on him. This would be why he winds up falling backwards and into the couch again.
"Hey, be gentle," he encourages, lightly pushing her away. "I bruise easily."\
She giggles and turns her attention back to Peter because she knows she can pounce on him and he won't topple over.
"Your house says hello," Neal informs, not bothering to sit back up. He will in a second, it's just the quick movements and the impact made his head start hurting more and he's hoping that, if he doesn't move, it'll ease away again.
