I hate that family can hurt you worse than anyone else in the world. These people that love you and are supposed to support you are the ones that flay you alive from time to time. I left a man for treating me like that, so why can't I tell a relative (my uncle/father) to stop. Even my sister admitted that he treated me like crap this past monday ( Read more... )

Ahh, that just sucks, Sarah. Wish I had some bright ideas on how to deal with him, but other than spending the absolute minimum amount of time with him that you can get away with, I've got none.

Wish I could be there to give you a hug...

Sarah, you know far well what you did accomplish and you have nothing to be ashamed of. You've been through very rough times and you will come out on top soon again.

Let him rant, let him think what ever he wants. Don't feel hurt by his words because all he is saying is that he is ignorant about you and your life and that says a lot about him too.

Just focus on getting healthy again. You know you can do it and we'll be here to spur you on when you need us.
*hugs*

Thanks guys. I guess it just hits me hard because he's the last of my parental figures alive. I hated hearing "she was so proud of you" at my aunt's funeral, because all I ever heard was how "not proud" of me she was. Mom's memorial was just for family. Anyone not family that showed only knew us kids and therefore we didn't have any one giving us such comments. I just don't want to get to the point where I can't be civil to him. This just isn't the kind of relationship I want with him and it's on his side as much as it is on mine. He's not comfortable with emotions at all and even though I know he loves me, he's never said it in words. I just don't want to hear it from others about how he felt about me at his funeral.
