I'd also look at their leg length (I'vv ebeenlooking forne for my p&s) - longer legs are more versatile in non-flat situations (like wrapping around a pole or tree branch) - so if one is longer, I'd get that. Unless you plan on using extra long lenses (telephoto, eg), then you'd want the heavier base. Oh! Don't forget to look at the spot on the bottom of your camera where it would screw on - if it's pretty centered, you can get away with a lighter 'pod. If it's way to the side, get the heavy-duty one, you want to avoid accidental tip-overs if you're doing remote shots.
