[Wow. This new system sure is fancy. Voile's not really sure what she's supposed to be doing, but she does let the audio feed run normally as she leafs through a book. One can hear her turning the pages ever so carefully in the background.]

What do people here do on their birthdays?

That entirely depends. Some use it as an excuse for debauchery. Simply because they were born! How wasteful.

But you are not akin to that. No, your mind is more practical, although it wanders.

[Okay. For Cyrus, she'll pay attention to her keyboard.]

Isn't the date you're born a special day? I mean, it is the day your existence is birthed. I think that sounds like a good reason to celebrate. Although I suppose once you practise debauchery, it's gone too far.

[She's not even touching the rest of that.]

Why ought it be the focus above any other day of life? Anniversaries serve no purpose. What occured occured and marking a date that shares most of the same numbers cannot change that.

Hm? Yes? What is it?

[Of course she knows who this is. She hasn't forgotten him.]

Oh... No. My birthday already passed. I just forgot that it had... Is there a rule against celebrating birthdays late?

I'd say force-feed people with cakes. [Tactless joke was completely tactless, Empo.]

Some do simple things, like have a single cake. Some have lavish celebrations and have multitudes of them.

I personally prefer the former, though.

[Voile turns on her video feed to get a better look at MK.]

I was thinking about a cake myself. That seems like a very popular way to do things.

Cakes are bundles of sugar. Perfect for some people.

Well, I've had cake before, but I've not actually had one for a birthday. I don't think I've celebrated anyone's birthday since I've been here. I've missed out on the birthday cake celebration.

Why? Is it your birthday?

No, not really.

[She blinks as she turns on her feed.]

I mean, mine was last month. I just forgot about it. I've never celebrated it before. I was looking for some ideas.

Oh. Happy belated birthday, then!

At home, on my birthday, my mom made me my favorite food for dinner and I'd get a present. I've heard sometimes people have really big, fancy birthdays though. With 3-tiered cakes and dancing. Stuff like that.

I guess you just do whatever makes you happy. But shouldn't we be doing that every day?

[Oh, he's rambling. He finishes with a sheepish shrug.]

[She blinks. He's certainly provided a lot of information. Now she has plenty of food for thought, doesn't she? In more than one way.]

I think I would be happy just to spend time with my friends, but like you said, I'm pretty sure I do that every day. I wonder how to make my birthday stand out beyond just a normal day...
