In late August, Canas managed to pull himself back to the library with 12 of his 13 discovered overdue library books. (The last, he dropped on his way out! Whoop!) Now he was back, carrying 6 books with a sheepish smile.

"Good morning, Ocelot," he greeted, dropping the stack on the desk. "Looks like I found some more for you!" The scholar sounded less than confident about his choice of words. "So... so that leaves 7 more, right?"

Man Canas you are just. Racking up the late fees. Not that Ocelot was complaining, he could probably make a living off of Canas' money alone. "Sounds about right," he replied and then began checking all of them long-lost books back in. Gosh it was a lot. Of books.

FINE YOU CAN HELP BUT YOU'RE NOT GETTING PAID. Well they don't call it the final frontier for nothing. Once he finished making sure the books were indeed the library's, he looked over to see Canas gawking at one of the shelves. "... What are you doing?"

A month after Volgin's arrival, and the fallen Colonel still had not found that bastard Major that backstabbed him back at Groznyj Grad. Raikov said he was here, but as time went on, it was indeed becoming a matter of Ocelot being there at one point, and questioning if he was even still at the school at all.

Apparently, Ocelot too remembered what he did.

Good. Very good. Volgin was intending to make good on his promise to make the Major regret.

A source told the giant where to find the boy. Volgin was careful to keep away from Ocelot's notice (somehow), biding his time near the library until it was closing time. When most everyone was away was when he could confront Ocelot himself with the least interruptions possible.

(And not at their apartment. Volgin could only charm his way off the couch so many times.)

Ocelot was really seriously trying to channel his Big Boss skills or something here. HE WAS PRAYING HE HAD MUSHROOMS OR A FROG OR SOMETHING... How did he not notice Volgin? Probably because the library didn't have many windows to let him spy on whatever was going outside and by the time he saw the guy it was already too late. How in the world are you supposed to notice a giant before it notices you?

Maybe if he was really careful he could just play dumb and YEAH HE WAS JUST GOING TO TAKE HIS MISPLACED BOOK CART ELSEWHERE. AS QUIETLY AS POSSIBLE. AND HOPE THAT VOLGIN WON'T REALIZE HE HAS SEEN HIM.

Oops.

Volgin knew this scene all too well. Beautifully well. It was not like the inferiors have tried this before, especially the scientists trying to escape a ... motivation session from either Raikov or him. A shame for Ocelot, when Volgin very much had his sights set on the man, and the giant had yet to forget what the Major's backside looked like.

"Major." In Russian. "I suppose you could spare a moment for your old commanding officer."

No, that was not really a choice being offered.

Peach had honestly been trying to return to basics since the poisoning happened. In so, she had returned to her normal routine of finding squishy sissy romance novels to read on her free time. She had checked out a few before and had a number of books on hand to return. For a while, the princess had wandered around the shelves of books. After about a half an hour, Ocelot may have noticed a the girl in pink come into his vision as she came to the desk with now two stacks of books. There were actually not just romance novels in there either. But rather, some books on cooking, too. She seemed chipper enough.

"Good afternoon, Ocelot."

"Afternoon, Princess." MAN if Ocelot had any idea who was behind that mass hysteria he would shake that guy's hand. For now, though, he was just going to. You know, check out those big stacks of books. Wow that was a lot of cookbooks. "... Catching up on some summer reading?"

Peach giggled a little in her voice as she put the stacks right on the desk that landed with a resounding echoing THUD. Then his question was answered. "I suppose in a way. I decided to check out a lot of books on cooking this time to prepare for class. The teacher expects a lot from his students."

Whoa yes that was a ton of books.

"A cooking class...?" Huh, when did they do that? It must have been pretty recently given that he hadn't heard anything about it.

Sparks? Thunder? That was just Amp's cue to drop on by then.

Of course, she was always the exploratory sort, so despite her slight dislike for reading, she decided to check out the library anyway. In Pikachu form. Her electric Pokemon form. While she's excited oh geez she bolts in with those sparks FLYING.

Have fun with that, Ocelot.

OH GOD HE HEARD IT

ELECTRICITY

FUCK

FUCKIN'... SHIT. HE WAS DEADER THAN DEAD. He was behind the counter, and as soon as he heard SPARKS FLYING he began trying to slooowly sidle his way out. He kind of looked like he was getting ready to be hit by a truck.

Wait what. What. What was up with this guy and why was he trying to go away. He looked terrified! Hadn't he ever seen a Pokemon before?

Amp ran for him. She was totally gonna find out what was up.

"Pika pika pi!"

And so he waited for the giant thundering footsteps of Volgin.

And waited.

...And waited some more.

And then he looked down and saw a little rat. WHA... VOLGIN... That was not Volgin. "... What are you?"
