"Pish-piffle!" Jolenedeclaredas she alked in, shoving a bottle of rum into Linebeck's had as she went over to hisdesk and stole his chair. She then opened her second bottle of liquor with he stapler.

"I really don't see why you're so jumpy, Linebeck,' she sighed, "We're a couple of teachers having a drink because our minds nearly explode due to pesky kids," she finished, "What's wrong with that?" She grinned and took a sip of booze.

Linebeck sighed and muttered something about manners and uppity women before settling on a pile of recently used math research textbooks. Taking the rum appreciatively - he inwardly was glad Jolene remembered his favorite brand of alcohol - he let the heady drink enter his system once again. It...had been a while since he had a "proper" drink in school.

"I guess so...I guess the hatred of pesky kids is something we do have in common..."

Then looking at Jolene's use the stapler to uncork her booze, he started, "Hey, you better not break anythin' while yer here!"

Jolene removed the bottle from her lips and mildly sneered, "Sure, sure," she grunted before she continued her gulp.

She paused and decided to start conversation, "You've gotten real uppity, you know that? You never used to be so..... I dunno, you just never used to care if I broke somethin' er not," she informed Linebeck with a small pout as she began to rock the chair on it's back legs while she balanced with her shoe crooked onto his desk.

"Uppity?" Linebeck narrowed his eyes a little. "Speak fer yerself, miss."

But he did wonder to himself about this question. He used to care less whenever Jolene wreaked havoc on his ship...provided he escaped from her clutches. After all, pirates could care less for property damage - they could always steal something better later. But now that he went through the rigors of college academia and such, he started to be concerned over things...like money/rupees.

"Just...eddycation education in genr'l I guess...har...stuff's been crazy around so...I keep meself on track...surprising as that seems."

He took another swig.

"...right."

Linebeck noticed Jolene sway a little, and snickered a little. But he too, was a bit tipsy. But he was a bit better at hiding it - as college drinking contests had made him learn. Still, the rum did make him speak a little too much.

"But it's a pirate's way eh? No offense or anything...but it was really easy to take."

"Maybe that's because I never expected someone like you to take it," she slurred and pointed at him with her bottle. She then noticed it was there and took a swig before continuing.

"Yeah, cause, y'know, you never think that your friend is gonna steal everythin' ya got!" she hiccuped and laughed at herself, "I think I'm getting drunk. This stuff must be stronger than Beedle's normal supply!"

Linebeck blinked a little. He had cursed to himself for saying his previous statement but was even more surprised by what Jolene had said: she didnt become angry. But then, it may have been from the rum.

"S'guess...if it's imported, it may've been the better rum...not the weak stuff," he looked a bit guiltily at Jolene's drunkened form, but his condition was no better. "Buuut let's forgit that huh? I jest was a...uhhh..."

Words were a bit blurring together, and he really had a headache...

"Right-o!" Jolene hiccuped. No need to dampen the mood with bad memories, right? Right. After all, this was the first time in a long time that the two had actually sat down and been nice to each other.

"So, Linebeck!" she tried her best to get to another topic, "I hear you're a doctor now!"

Linebeck glanced at his back-broken chair, and sighed. But he was too drunk to yell at her: alcohol never really made him very violent anyway.

Instead, he roughly held her steady by putting her arm across his shoulder. Tottering a little at the sudden weight, he still managed to not collapse.

"I'm going ter walk ye back home...it's gettin pretty late...hic. Har har har I'm so damned drunk..."

"ME too!" Jolene giggled at her blood-alcohol level and slurred very much. Luckily she was just drunk enough that the pain in her ankle was numbed. It wouldn't be until the next morning that she would begin her cursing and she would eventually blame Linebeck for what happened.

But for the moment she was mostly pain free and was able to enjoy one of the very few times she and Linebeck ever really showed if they even cared for each other.

Sighing, she was glad she had help getting home, since she had begun to see double and was getting worried that she might try to get into a house that didn't belong to her. This imaginary event would inevitable lead to her arrest. So, yes, she was glad Linebeck was assisting her to get home. Now she would be able to report to work tomorrow.

Linebeck on the other hand, was not TOO drunk - he still could see fairly well and his sense of direction was sounds - but his head was still a killer and his face felt hot from the rum's heat.

The math teacher tottered a little (with Jolene in tow) towards the door and managed to open and lock his office behind. The quiet hallway sent a fresh breeze that made Linebeck feel a little better. He also hoped that the booze will allow Jolene to temporarily forget his sudden act of kindness...and that none of the teachers were around to stare at them.

If she were of sound mind, Jolene would have also been glad that nobody could see the two being nice to each other. After all, she had a reputation of being hostile to keep up. But she wasn't of completely sound mind, and was mostly tired and in a daze.

So she yawned and announced, "Goodnight!" before promptly dropping her head and trying to fall asleep, deciding Linebeck would just have to drag her home.
