Who: Morty and Myths class What: GHOST STORIES. I mean. Urban Legends that are totally pertinent to his class. Where: A classroom When: Friday, some time in the afternoon
Re: Reactions!flaminglovelyFebruary 12 2010, 22:21:46 UTC
Vivian was eager to try this class. Legends and things had always interested her.
The lights were actually a pleasant surprise. The general environment of the school was actually brighter than was her preference, so it was nice to let her eyes rest in the gloom. This spooky atmosphere was just so perfect!
"Myth and legend..." she pondered when the questions were asked. "Well, I guess I always thought it was only a myth if it wasn't true, and legends are the true ones. Isn't that how it works? ...And as for paranormal, I don't know... It means it has to do with spirits and Boos and stuff, right?"

Morty nodded at the smaller girl. He had a feeling his students would have a gist of the difference, but he was happy to hear it first-hand. "That's right. A myth is thought to be a explanation of sorts, while a legend is told as if it were a historical event."
He nodded again. "Though, I don't know what Boos are, I can guess. The paranormal is anything that can't be proved, though, yes, it is mostly associated with spirits and supernatural phenomena."

Midna was quite at home in this environment. She sat very attentive at her desk, hands folded neatly under her chin. Were the markings on her arms glowing in the dark? ... Yes.
She closed her eyes, thinking about the the questions on hand. "Myths are the birth of legends. They are the stories of the recent past and present, born for whatever purpose. If it manages to trascend its age... I believe that is when you have a legend on your hands. The paranormal..." Midna opened her eyes with a grin. "Is what the society at large tends to label as different enough that it cannot possibly be related to them in anyway."
Ghost Stories!pineneedleseerFebruary 12 2010, 19:05:50 UTC
[ The ghost story begins. Aw yeah ganking Japanese urban legends]Morty continues to wander around the room, like the creep he is, idly touching the surfaces of the book shelves and counters. Sometimes a student’s desk. The murmur in the shadows is still very apparent, and the students may only seem to notice it at the worst times
( ... )
Even though Spinaraks were more active at night, this Spinarak can't deal with scary things as much. She was curled up under the table from the middle portion of the story, as if the table will protect her from any unseen danger.
Aaaand anything else.pineneedleseerFebruary 12 2010, 19:06:19 UTC
That being said, Morty rolls back to his desk and keeps the lights off. “There’s still some time in class,” obviously. “Does anyone have ghost/scary stories or urban legends of their own to share?”

Suddenly, Thad rose from his seat.
"There was a myth I read before about a girl" He explained.
"She was pretty, smart and everyone liked her" He took a dramatic paused, then "but she was obsess with arms"
"Every time she sees one she likes, she cuts them then 'plants' it in her secret garden" he said as he illustrated it his arm, 'cutting' it with his fingers.
"No one knew she was the one who caused the murders, until... " He took a quick glance at everyone, then continued "those arms pulled her in" Who would've thought his red eyes -and smirk- make things more creepier than it should be?
"Days after she was pulled in, her body was found by other students who happened to pass the area exactly 4 PM" He explained casually.
"They say if you're alone at 4 PM, you might hear her screams"

Hojita obviously didn't get the meaning behind 'those arms pulled her in'. It was a little scary to her until that was said. The arms were hugging her? Then students found her after she was hugged? But then why would she be screaming? Maybe she was screaming of joy?
She didn't know, but she went, "Yay!!" and clapped at the story anyway.

Cyrus had been wanting to hear this lecture since he had first heard of Morty's presense at the school. So far he was unimpressed. The lighting was unconducive to all but eyestrain, and the overall sensation of the room was an air of cheap campfire stories. The legends should be revered, not made worthless.
"I had believed you respected the legends. Instead I hear you presenting them akin to a mass-market horror film," Cyrus lectured. "Ought I expect to hear Darkrai told as the boogyman? Cresselia as the tooth fairy?"
"I think Banette might be a better boogyman," Oops he was doing what he told himself not to do. "I meant no disrespect towards the subject I am so passionate about. This was merely for fun and only for today.
"Stories like these that are modernized are just as much legends as any other. Getting the point of a legend across sometimes depends on how you tell it." Hence the atmosphere. Morty had reason behind his methods.

Thad was a little creepy, but he was interesting. "How often we're betrayed by the things we love..." he commented nonchalantly.
