When Shinon had sat down beside him, Surge didn't really pay any mind to the other man. He was a bit preoccupied as the bartender placed his drink down. "Thanks," the lieutenant grinned, taking a slow sip. Ah, just the refreshing, slightly burning down the throat, sort of feeling he was hoping for.

Reclining back on the stool, he finally looked over at Shinon. He paused, brows furrowing in thought. The redhead looked awfully familiar. Hadn't Surge seen him at a faculty drinking night or in the hallways? Might as well ask. "Hey, you from SBG?"

"Ah, thought so," Surge smirked in triumph. "I thought ya looked familiar." To think he would run into another person from the school... Oh well, at least that gave him an excuse to get to know more people.

"Name's Surge, I teach Military Protocol. And you are?" Hopefully this guy wasn't one of those melancholy people who preferred to drink alone. But once the lieutenant was able to get a real good look at Shinon, the redhead didn't seem like that type of person.

He quirked an eyebrow when the other man said 'archery.' Did Shinon mean the old sort of bow-and-arrow archery? Surge didn't know much about that kind of thing. Truth be told, he thought it was a rather archaic type of fighting. But to each his own.

"Is that so? Hm, now that I think about it, you're relatively new to the school, aren't ya? At least, I'm pretty sure you weren't here last year." Chuckling, he asked, "How are you likin' it so far?"

"Ha ha, that's for sure," Surge shook his head. "I remember when I first came here, I started to question the sanity of some of the other people here. 'Course I still do, but I'm just used to it by now."

Taking another sip of his drink, he glanced over at the other man. "Have anyone particular in mind? Some people aren't actually as bad as they first seem." He chuckled, "Then again, some are actually worse."

Lash and Ganondorf were understandable names. Surge didn't know Pit or Kirby too well, but they seemed like alright kids. What caught the lieutenant's attention was the pilot's name.

Considering the nonchalant way Shinon mentioned Goose, Surge had a feeling the redhead didn't know about their relationship. He smirked. It looked like it was time to play a little game of 'interrogation.'

"Goose, huh? What about him do you think is crazy? 'Course I have my own opinions of 'im, but I'm just curious."
