Another kitty toy has been produced. I decided that geepgal and ambientguise had a dearth of Halloween-related kitty toys to go with the truly vast amounts of Halloween decor they own. This needed to be rectified.

Also, I like skulls.

Heheh... and you haven't even seen the foolish attention to detail on the spine yet! ;)

Larger images now linked, for reference.

That is foolish attention to detail.

And Iris is also starting to feel left out. ;^)

Oh, what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to make kitty toys.

Baldric in YOMEEN wants fuzzy skull toy! It matches my pirate eye patch and goatee. Me iz a good kat--skull toy will get me lots of lady cats to play with. :)

Glenfiddich, that is good stuff. Also, awesome skull. How did you learn to crochet?

I'm usually more a Jameson's man, myself, by scarily fervent family tradition. But when a truly awesome friend puts a bottle of Glenfiddich 15-year in your hand... yeah. By all that's holy, you give it a good home. ;)

I picked it up from my grandmother. She used to take care of me fairly regularly once my mum went back to work - give my parents a break. She was pretty much always doing some textile project, and so I learned some crochet, and some needlepoint, how to wield a hot-glue gun, that kind of stuff.

Bless your grandmother for not assuming those were not appropriate activities for a boy.

I think it came down to there not being a whole lot for a young boy to do at her apartment, and her being very pragmatic about this sort of thing. I'd read through most of the Bible after a few visits, wasn't interested in most of her other books (and, let's face it, some she didn't want the kid reading), needed something to keep me occupied. She had projects to finish; I had idle hands. Obvious conclusion.

Do you have an etsy story for cat toys yet? I mean really, I can see where this is all going: A Goth Pet Toy Store.

Oddly, while I'm largely willing to give these things away in return for the occasional egoboosts hearing how much kitty loves it, or seeing kitty play with it, I'm not sure I'd be willing to sell them for less than minimum wage.

If I were selling the stuff, I'd feel the need to charge a fair hourly wage for my work, and that skull was pretty much a day's work. I'm not sure people (or even Goths, for that matter) would pay, like, $50 for a cat toy (even assuming I can do things faster once I practice, it's still probably not going down to $19.95...). Plus, then I'd have to make a volume sufficient to justify my Etsy presence. Kinda the same thing that stopped me from opening up a store for jewelry.

...

If he starts telling you to kill, I want you to leave the apartment and call someone. ;)
