my parents might be nice, but when i look back at other times, i think differently.
and i still don't like my parents, they're part of the reason i started doing things to myself.

I'm not going to say you're being a bitch, and I'm not going to say your dad's not that bad. But I will say you need to handle the situation with some more tact. Instead of flat out saying hell no to the night and taking a bitchy tone with your mom, you could of approached your dad (as awful as it may seem), informed him you're sure the dance would be a good time, but you're just not interested, plus you'd rather spend the $80 on something more practical, such as applications. If handled correctly, it could have been a smooth ride.
