My life is boring sometimes

Sep 17, 2006 17:09

This past week must have been very boring, because I can’t think of a single thing that happened. I watched Project Runway and mourned Kayne’s auf’ing. I watched Survivor. I worked. I felt yucky and so didn’t go to the health club. I discovered the project rungay blog (thanks to CJ chat, which amazingly focussed almost entirely on Project Runway).

Thank you. I just go the disk for all the photos; it may take awhile for me to sort through them all and download some. But I will share.

Good essay!

Book Theif is interesting, no? Death as narrator was a little hard to adjust to, but I liked it. I liked the characterization of Death a lot, too.

My biggest problem with the book was having to suspend disbelief, since there are x number of people dying every second. It's hard to imagine a narrator as other than a person, and a person obviously can't be in more than one place at a time. And the idea of a sympathetic, humanized Death is a little odd too. But it did stretch the mind, all these contradictions, so yes, it was interesting.

Question: Do you think Leisel and Max had a relationship that went beyond friendship? The shipper in me kept wondering if they ended up together.

For some reason it wasn't hard for me to suspend disbelief re: Death. The weird style with the notes that stood out and all that was hard to get used to at first, but overall it was easy to get into for me.

I think it would be interesting if Leisel and Max ended up together so long as it didn't start while she was a kid. Ew! But she and... Lucas was it? I forget the other boy's name now. They were so sweet. That was so tragic.

I like the essay a lot. You pack a lot of thought into a few words, and you really communicate your mixed emotions.

Thank you so much. I've gotten a lot of very positive feedback from people at Caroline's school and at work, too.
