We're a very sex positive family, and while I wouldn't be totally honest if I said, "Oh, yay, my sixteen-year-old might be having sex soon!", I don't think sex at sixteen is unnatural (I think 17 is the average age of first intercourse) and I want him to be able to feel free to talk to us about any sexual questions he may have. I also want him to be physically safe (for example, taking precautions against STDs and unplanned pregnancy -- DH and I decided to get him the HPV shots even though they're over $200 per shot and aren't covered by insurance because he's male; my daughter's HPV shots were fully covered by insurance -- don't get me started, LOL!). I guess we're trying to approach it sensibly and not freak out, etc.

I know, can you believe he's sixteen? Not only that, but it means the other one is seventeen -- I'm within six months of having raising a child to adulthood o_0 And here I am, still acting like a kid myself :)
