getting away from it all while staying close to home...

So -- the world's largest Marriott resort recently opened in San Antonio, and it's within 4-5 miles of our house.  The resort is on about 600 acres, and they have tons of convention space, numerous restaurants, a humongous spa and fitness center, a 6-acre water park, two golf courses, a bird sanctuary, boutique shopping, and goodness knows what ( Read more... )

It totally does.
When I was younger, I would have preferred something more active -- like wilderness camping, fishing expeditions, or sight-seeing tours where I'm in a different town every night.

Nowadays I prefer to slow down a bit on vacation. I mostly want to relax, feel pampered, and get away from my never ending "to do" list.

If the resort has what you and Oscar like, why not go closer to home? Sometimes the hassle of "getting there and back" makes the trip less fun.

It's definitely what I like, and Oscar was the one to tell me "book it!" (a phrase almost as cool as "make it so!" or "book 'em Danno!") -- so I think he's looking forward to it as well.
