Excellent story! I love how you wove the happenings of the "Adhesive Duck Deficiency" with this interpretation, and kept everyone so much in character, but still hinted at a realistic Penny/Sheldon relationship in the future. I especially loved this line: "most of the time he’s a pale impersonation of the guy she met and befriended years ago" because oh, that's been so true. I hope the BBT writers realize it and are doing it on purpose (yeah, I'm an optimist). In the meantime, thanks for the glimpse into how things should be.

I found it interesting that they skipped right over the potential aftermath of that episode, and thus decided to course correct canon a little. I like my continuity, what can I say.
