I like Jack's logic. It makes a lot of sense. And I loved how he was surprised that Sawyer cared about his well-being; poor Jack was going around checking on everybody and nobody asked after *him*; they all want him to take care of them, but they don't give back the same kind of caring and concern that he gives them. It's sad. I can see Sawyer doing something exactly this, in canon, and I can see what happened in that tent the rest of the night, which (alas) will never be canon. ;) Now my imagination will run wild for the rest of the night. Thank you for that, and for writing such a lovely fic!

It does make sense, at least it did last night, and who the hell am I to ignore plot/logic -- it's so rare that manages to show up in my fic these days, lol.

I'm glad you and your imagination enjoyed this; thanks for reading and reviewing!

Nice. I think you really captured that early dynamic of Jack and Sawyer here, with a little hint of the stronger things to come.

I miss that early dynamic a whole heck of a lot, so it was fun (but hard) going back there.

I'm glad you liked this! Thanks for reading and reviewing!

So I'm sort of addicted to your writing. You have a way of really delving into the characters and bringing out what's important to drive the story forward. But your characters are true to themselves - there's nothing I hate more than OOC writing and this absolutely isn't that. It's great. I have a bit of a thing for Sawyer; he's a complex individual and you capture that nicely here. I hate Jack. Unconditionally, heh. But your Jack...well, he's so much more human than on the show. Wonderful stuff.

Aw, that's sweet of you to say! I despise OOC writing and I try very hard to avoid it, even if I'm not sure I always pull that off.

It's funny -- your character prefences and mine are complete opposites. Me and Sawyer haven't gotten along at all this season, but I've always been a Jack fan. Going back to a Season 1 sort of feel was nice because I was a fan of both of them.

I'm glad you liked this! Thanks for reading and reviewing!

If you're out of practice it really doesn't show! :) I have a real weakness for moments like these when the boys see more than the surface in each other, and with this the rainstorm is just the icing (or frosting or whatever it is) on top of a pretty darn awesome cake!!! Thank you so much for this! xxx

Aw thanks! I'm really thrilled that you liked this; I wasn't quite sure what to do with the prompt and this is just what came to me.

“Because those people out there,” Jack begins, leaning back against the edge of the cart, settling in a little, “right now all they’re thinking about is the rain. When it’s going to stop, if it’s going to flood, whether or not they’re stuff is going to get wet. They’re thinking about the rain, and every hour that they spend fixating on that storm out there is another hour that they’re not spending wondering when we’re going to get rescued, if we’re going to get rescued, and how we’re going to get off this island if we don’t.”

This is SO the perfect, season-one Jack speech. Great job. I love the Jack and Sawyer interplay throughout the story, too.

I was trying to get back in that mode of thinking, you know, when he made the big speeches, the ones that really meant something, so I'm happy to hear that :)

I'm glad you liked this! Thanks for reading and reviewing!
