They don’t really talk about it, because they aren’t really people who have those conversations about feelings and what things mean. Or Mark isn’t; Derek isn’t sure what he is.

It may be easier to just sit back and watch and let things be done for him but that was always just a temporary fix - so he swats Mark’s hands away from where they’re undoing his own pants, does it for him, gets them both on the bed because if they’re going to do this they might as well do it right.

Because Mark’s his best friend, and a lot of times he’s more than that, but mostly he’s just all Derek needs at this point.
I like sad Derek, and super BFF Mark (especially him covering sad Derek up and going with him to get his stuff). I like Izzie telling Derek that she's happy he's happy. I like all of it

Really? Ohmigosh you have no idea how relieved I am to hear that. So relieved I apparently type things like 'ohmigosh', lol.

Super BFF Mark is amazing. And Derek is more tolerable for me when he's sad because then maybe I can feel something for him other than blinding hatred (is it weird I don't like him but still actively ship Mark/Derek? that shouldn't be possible). And I don't even know why Izzie showed up in this, she just did, and I went with it.

I'm so, so very glad that you liked this! Thanks so much for the prompt, for your patience, and for your kind words. I appreciate all of it (even you totally getting me out of my comfort zone -- I've never written something this long with them, so it was definitely an interesting experience).
