Why would this be reaching? It seems perfectly in character to me.

“She’s been asking for you Sawyer and you at least fucking owe her this.”

He can hear the tears in Jack’s voice, he can hear the emotion, and he wants to make it stop but he can’t, he’s too frozen in place.

“Please, please call me when you get this. Call someone.”

Yep, that pretty much broke me. Well done!

It just...the end feels odd to me. But then I guess we are our worst critic.

This is beautiful, so well done. It just breaks your heart, especially the creation of "Jeff" and the erasure of "Sawyer" in the last part, and Jack's phone messages toward the end. Makes me want to cry (that's a good thing).

Aw, thank you! That last part was really what I had my heart set on this whole time. And I love Jack so I had to have him in here more than once. It's kind of fitting that he's the one who affects Sawyer the most.
