My family has this tradition too - I love my family, but I can see how Ben would find it... useful. It's very in-character for Juliet to have little controlled outbursts like this and then not really acknowledge responsibility for her own role in things. Being spared future invites is good for something, I suppose. This is brilliant work.

What was Alex thankful for, by the way? ;)

My family used to have this tradition, but now half my family is four states away so it's kind of complicated. I just think that he would use it to his advantage. I wasn't sure anyone else would though, so I'm glad you thought it worked.

What was Alex thankful for, by the way? ;)

It's bad when you blank on answers to questions about your own stories isn't it? To be honest, I think I had an idea in my head, but I wrote this about a week ago so I don't remember. Feel free to fill in the blank yourself.

Thanks so much for reading and for the feedback! I appreciate it!

I am thankful for the plot bunny you have just given me! Would it be okay if I fed it some lettuce and let in hop around on my LJ, with credit to you?

Run with it. I know I'd love to see it.

I love the idea of the Others sitting down to holidays just like everyone else. It rings so true to canon with its book clubs and such.

His voice is perfectly steady as he says, “I’m sure you can think of something.” This is perfectly Benry!

I think it would be delightfully creepy to watch Benry carve a turkey ;-)

They would do Thanksgiving. The book clubs and stuff totally made me think of them doing that.

I would not want to see Ben with a knife carving the turkey. Too domestic, too creepy. And yet, for the same reason, I totally would.

Glad you liked it! Thanks for reading!

Aw, thank you! I don't really do Ben so this was a nice change to include him.

Thanks so much for the feedback and for reading!

And of course you can friend me. I was going to ask you that myself since I always end missing your fic and I love your fic. So friending you back!

Personally, I always found this an uncomfortable tradition. It's sweet and I know it's important but I am too shy to say these sort of things out loud. So I can only imagine how awkward this would be at a Benry thanksgiving! This setting captures the Juliet and Ben dynamic beautifully, one upping each other with their superiority and disappointment. I also liked the little Tom and Richard asides - oooh what were they thankful for?

I don't like the tradition, and thankfully my family doesn't do it. We just eat. We don't really talk about it. But I know people who do and I know it's superiorly awkward. Hence this.

I'm glad you thought it captured their dynamic though. I've never really experimented with them but I've always wanted to.

I'm going to sort of tell you the same thing I told bachlava. I knew when I wrote it, but that was a week ago, and hell if I remember now. It's sort of a fill in the blank sort of thing though I guess.

Thanks for reading and leaving great feedback!

Ha! My fill in the blanks is that Richard got away with batting his hypnotic eyes (and eyelashes) and everyone thought he said something profound. Tom was thankful Ben didn't make him wear the itchy beard to dinner! (I guess the latter would only make sense if their costumes existed pre-crash...) Happy Thanksgiving!

love this strong jules you write here, her and ben have a very cat/mouse relationship with both fighting for top spot.

She might have been uninvited to thanksgiving but she chucks him out of the book club heh

Juliet is strong -- more so than a lot of the other females IMO, and I love her dynamic with Ben.

Thanks for reading and reviewing!
