Back to work today. My first work day since trying to kick the FB habit. This will be interesting! I've used FB as distraction/break/procrastination tool. Now it's gone, it'll be interesting to see how that affects my work day

I'm working my way through 1421 which is really interesting history, but not as good a book as I would like. It's about the Chinese voyages of exploration and colonisation in the early 15th century, and presents evidence that they visited (and established colonies) throughout the Americas, New Zealand, Australia, the Pacific, India, and various parts of Africa.
Unfortunately, the book is more about the author's search for evidence than it is about the history. So like I said, interesting stuff, but not what I'd hoped for from the book.
I remember seeing this book when it came out, but haven't read it. That's a shame that there's not as much actual history as you'd hoped, because that's definitely an interesting topic.
Part of the problem is that there's very little written history, because the Emperor at the time destroyed all records. So much of it is archeological, which is really unusual for the 15th century. So that's why so much about finding the evidence.
I'm still back and forth myself, spending less time on fb but trying to find which social media platform will pan out in terms of feeling connected and not sucking too much time.

Removing the noise of social media has given me a few days to breathe, and to reinvigorate. I've arranged social things. Look at me social!
