Exactly One Month...

As of the time stamp on this post, I've had my new kidney for almost exactly one month... its so weird... I still have to remind myself to drink water and fluids constantly. Of course that is to be expected after four and a half years of training myself to not drink anything almost ever

So assuming all is well, what's the lifelong regimen? Obviously you can drink and pass fluids, but will you be on immunosupressants for much longer? Is there anything you're restricted from doing ever, like imbibing or sit-ups or kama sutra? Even one at a time?

I ask 'cause I don't know, and I don't trust your info more than the 'net.

For whatever reason, a kidney requires life long immunosuppresant therapy to maintain (unless of course it fails,or your body rejects it anyway, then they just take it out and throw it away and you go back to dialysis). Once everything is healed completely, I'm not restricted from anything really, I can have the occasional glass of booze/beer/wine (not much of a drinker anyway). I can eat anything I want, and have to drink at least 1.5L of fluids a day or more... Working-out will be a good thing as is sex (all those lovely endorphines help your body maintain status quo), and I'll be able to travel and do pretty much whatever I want, I just have to have labs draw once a week (for the next few months), and after 6 months, if everything looks good, I go to once a month and then once every three months... The only trick at this point, is Medicare will cut me off in 35 more months, so I have to find a job or get into school ASAP and then work my way into a career with really effing good benefits, or move to Canada, cause as it stands, my

That sucks about being on pills the rest of your life. Do they have any side effects, manageable or otherwise? I guess anything is manageable when you have a functioning kidney.
And you should see about moving to England. Apparently they don't pay anything for their drugs.

But then look at their teeth. Goes to show you don't need smiles to build an empire.
