I'm with you. I get barked at because I have to 'maximize instructional time' yet I have constant interruptions for BMI, eye check, hearing tests, color blindness tests, hand washing lessons, tooth brushing lessons, selling chocolate, and other nonsense. When I did my master's thesis on Amish schools, the teacher I talked to said these things are the parents responsibility. They don't teach nutrition, tooth brushing, anything that is part of parenting. Funny that those Amish kids do so well, and our kids can only name the mighty morphing mutant turtles. /end rant
