[Great. Where the heck has Grune gotten to this time? He must have covered half the park by now and no sign of her.

Giles pauses as he passes by the bouncy castle. Maybe? No, those boots she always wears would put a hole in the place. Except it would probably be very easy to convince her to take off said shoes. And if she enjoyed the roller coaster...

...the sight of blonde hair through the bouncy castle windows gets his attention. Then he shakes himself, because he's getting as bad as Jack. Then Giles shakes himself again because no, that really is...]

Buffy!

[Have an ex-Watcher waving to get your attention. And, unbenownst to him, the droid's.]

Very much so. [A double shame, because Giles has come across a few people who could probably drown the droids in plushies before the day was out. He goes to pick up the dragon, dusting it off.] More so for you than for me, I would imagine.

[ she settles into a sad little sitting position. ] I just spent the last...how long? I don't even remember. But I spent it in a cage, Giles. Sure, this one's more colourful and comfier in a really freaky kind of way...but it's still a cage.

Nearly two weeks, Buffy. [Giles carefully inches back until the droids stop staring at him. Then he sits down - not quite as sad a position, but definitely morose.]

...apparently with Grell for company.

...speaking of maddening two weeks, when you get the opportunity, you will have to have words with Jack.

[ forget jack. buffy is made too anxious by giles' first claim to knowledge. ]

Who told you that?

Grell. Who else?

...when I'm out on patrol, Buffy, I don't always find people that I want to see.

...Doesn't mean you have to strike up small-talk with them.

A sentiment Grell most emphatically shared.

[A shrug.] Even so, I decided that I probably shouldn't worsen our standing with her by leaving her to bleed all over the plaza.

["Sue me" is unsaid but implied.]

[ a huff. she has more to say on the subject but doesn't care to get into it with the droids right there.

but she will add: ] Her cell was across from mine.

We had a great many kidnappings that week. And the week before that. They've only just started trickling back.

Mmhm. They must've had a packed house. I even had a cell-mate for a little while.

Anyone we know?

[Anyone he should keep a lookout for, in other words?]

...Have you met Tony Stark? A newbie during the last cycle.

I've heard him over the journals.

[He considers him a bit of a prat, to put it kindly.]

...The company was nice, at least. In comparison to the other times.

[ buffy had early on decided that tony was a bit of a prat in the same way that she was; calculatedly so. ]

Depending on how long it takes for you to get out of there, I'll keep an eye out for him.

[Just like he'd looked for Ami, and Mulder, and Helios and, in a cautious, guarded sort of way, Grell.]
