Yes, I know I'm literally posting this right after the other post. Whatever. I'm getting these out. Observation #2 was last weekend.

Current Prediction:
March 13-14th, +/- 1 week. This is pretty much the default prediction presuming no signs of things happening early. So far, I haven't seen anything to suggest that things are deviating from this at this point. If in doubt, if you're sewing for this, guess early (March 6th-7th). Note: On March 20th, Anime LA is hosting a
potluck picnic at Lake Balboa themselves. If the date happens to fall around that weekend, note that I won't plan anything and I'll just recommend that you guys attend that instead.

1.
Yay for stormy weekends. -_- Apparently, this is an El Niño year, so we should expect to see a few more of these.
2.
The buds look slightly bigger. Unfortunately, I forgot my usual reference quarter this time, so you'll just have to go with visual appearance.

Did I mention I love that my GF1 can still do things like blurred backgrounds? Oh good. :D

There's always a few younger/newer trees around. Let's hope they have time to grow big like the others.
11.
12.
13.
14.
Healthy and consistent clusters. Again, good signs.
15.
16.
17.
Just wait. By mid-March, this tree will likely be full of pink.

Ahh, the graffiti-ed underpass. Just had to get a shot of this for the sake of nostalgia. And to remind everyone to be careful of the rivers after the rain, because they swell up like in this picture. D:
25.
There's sort of a vague... Congo-ish feel about these plants, huh?
26.
When it rains, the water does have a tendency to pool up in places in the park. That was a pretty bad rainy spell we had that Friday.
27.
Just picture that a month from now. Hopefully without the trash can in the shot. XD
28.
A better idea of the removed trees. :(
29.
30.
A little bit of odd residual sap hanging around.
31.
This cluster will hopefully look pretty good come March.
32.
More flooding.
33.
Hey, this park does have other things besides cherry blossoms. Like maple leaves. :D
34.
Man, it's a good thing So. Cal. doesn't normally look like THAT.
35.
36.
Sorry, bored and took some shots of the reflection in the murky water.
37.
This is not the lake or an adjunct pond. This is what happens when you get heavy rains in So. Cal.

Thankfully, the fencing is down across the field, and there's now a pretty wide stretch to go shoot in again. This will be nice once Spring rolls around again.
42.
Can someone shoo the dog out of the frame please?
43.
44.
Hmm. Ominous, no?
45.
This tree, unfortunately, is in no shape to bloom this year. :/
46.
See? Empty branches.
47.
The small cluster of trees along the far north side of the park. Read: the side no one is going to visit because it's too damn far away from everything.
48.
49.
But the buds are consistent here too.
50.
51.
Now you tell me whether I shot that in So. Cal. No one would believe it.
