This is more or less a formal apology to the person who shocked me into ranting like that, as well as an admission that I was wrong, and my change of heart is a good thing, trust me. A friend recently pointed out to me that encouragement and inspiration will help to correct the "badfic" and "beta reluctance" problems much better than any sort of ( Read more... )

I... kinda disagree. Some people are writers, some are not. You can encourage people, but in the end, it is their creativity or lack there of that will make their story interesting.

I fully agree with that -- that it's an inborn talent, just like the ability to sing or draw. But I believe that with a lot of nurturing, somebody who sucks could at least be decent, whereas excluding them will make sure they always suck because they'll never keep trying, keep practicing, keep paying attention to encouraging criticism to change their craft. Y'know?

AW! It's all heartwarming to know one's baby is still alive and kicking without one.

I have no idea what the drama is about but. . . I'm sure vammers will overcome it. We always do!

Yes. Vam is definitely still alive. We're working on bringing it back to its former glory by getting everybody involved again, but it is by far still alive! :D

Well, Nic and Heidi gave me the community to keep track of and do with what I will, and I intend to keep it kicking for a long, long, long time.

The drama's about probably the same things it was about a while ago, when you were still there. It's all about the question of whether we should value writing over community, instill betas, mod-control new posts... Y'know. Usual community stuff.

All of that is still up in the air, but I know one thing. We're not kicking anybody out for not being perfect. Not. gonna. happen.

Good plan, not kicking people out. We never were elitest like that. *shrug* Bad writing is a pet peeve of mine but I don't see the point in stopping people do what they want. So good plan. Yay! :) And well done you!

I am, though I've drifted away from actually being active on there (and probably won't drift back).

I hope it will too. Hopefully I've learned from it enough that I won't make the mistake again. :)
