This is more or less a formal apology to the person who shocked me into ranting like that, as well as an admission that I was wrong, and my change of heart is a good thing, trust me. A friend recently pointed out to me that encouragement and inspiration will help to correct the "badfic" and "beta reluctance" problems much better than any sort of exclusion or harsh requirements, and I agree with her. The community I have recently been named leader of (
__vam ) is more about community than impeccable writing, and if we choose the right methods, there is no reason why there cannot be both. I, definitely, intend to implement said methods, so that there can be love and happiness and encouragement as well as writing that does not make us want to tear our hair out. Please let me know anything you think I could do -- I address this question here because I think it is a more open forum than the community itself -- or not do, to achieve these aims. I appreciate all of it! :) (If those of you who didn't feel like you could oppose so many angry people during the rant want to speak, please do! I'd love to hear from you! Anybody, I mean it! :D)
Also, if you're one of those writers who does know or don't know how you write, what your style is, please go to
this post and tell your fellow Vammers! This is the first step of many to come showing that everybody's different and everybody is still welcome, and there's no reason why you can't be nice and also critical of somebody's writing, as well as have fun and still write as well as possible for the readers. I'm excited already to see what all of you are going to say! (And even inactive members, or those who haven't written in FOREVER for this community, are more than welcome to share!) We can all learn from each other this way!
Remember that I love you all, no matter who you are, and I intend to have some kind of personal relationship with every writer and reader, as much as I can. I'm the mama now, and the type of mama you can ask or tell anything, okay? :)
