Canon Used: Katekyo Hitman REBORN! mixed with a bit of pretty much any doll related manga out there. (ie Shounen Dolls, Zach Bell, Rozen Maiden)
Appearance: Tsuna is a fairly scrawny fourteen year old boy. He short compared to his friends and classmates standing only at 5'2, and he weighs about 105 lbs. He has a round girly face that he gets from his mother, and large brown eyes that, depending on the lighting can look either milk-chocolate brown or carmel brown. His hair is brown in color, and generally untamable making it look like he has eternal bed head the way it sticks up. Tsuna is usually seen wearing his Namimori School Uniform which consists of black dress pants, a white dress shirt, a black sweater vest, a blue tie, and depending on the season a yellow blazer. His casual clothes are fairly normal for a teenage boy. Long pants, t-shirts, and sweaters. His two favorite sweaters are an orange and white zip up hoodie, and a light blue pull over hoodie with the number 27 on it.
Tsuna doll, and companion, actually has quite the resemblance to Tsuna. This resemblance is easier to see when Giotto is in human form. He has golden blond hair in the same wild untamable style as Tsuna, and their faces have a similar shape though Giotto's is sharper with age. His eyes are amber colored, and not as wide as Tsuna's. In human form he stands at about 5'11, as a doll Giotto is about the size of an 18 inch American Girl Doll. He's usually dressed in dress pants, and a white dress shirt, though he also has a pinstriped suit that goes with his long black mantle. The most interesting thing he has clothing wise is a pair of gloves that he uses in battle.
Psychology:
At first Tsuna's not really all that intresting. He's not good in sports, or fine arts in fact he's awful at them. Neither is he the brightest bulb in the box, granted he's not dumb. He just can't seem to be able to pass a test for anything, nor can he really understand everything that he's taught in school. He has no special talent at all unless you could tripping over your own feet, and falling down stairs. Tsuna also freaks out easily. Seriously it does take much to get this kid to squeal. Years, and years of teasing have given him a very strong loser complex, and made him fairly unwilling to talk to strangers, or take risks. He's also very unconfident in himself and his abilities. So he's very quiet, and usually alone making him a very easy target for bullies.
It's really only when you get to know Tsunayoshi Sawada that you start to see his finer qualities. Like that fact that Tsuna is a really caring kid. He'll help just about anyone who asks and not ask too many questions either. Tsuna's also a very accepting person. He doesn't really seem to care where you came from, or what you've done. He is trusting until you give him a reason not to trust him, and even then he may still try and trust you. Though he has a temper and can get angry at people it doesn't usually last for very long, and it seems to be physically impossible for him to actually truly hate people. Also when upset, or mad, Tsuna will usually turn in on himself before he gets outwardly angry.
Though with all those things said it should also be said that Tsuna is not brave, and he's not the hero type either. He's more likely to run form a fight then face it.
Since Reborn has arrived in Tsuna's life things have started to slowly change. While all of the above still applies Tsuna has found that he has a very strong desire to protect his friends, because he doesn't think he has very many. Also, though Tsuna doesn't realize it, he can sometimes turn even enemies into allies when given a chance and enough time. Though his loser complex is still strong he's starting to show the traits needed to lead people.
It should be noted that the personality that Giotto gains when he's brought to life is one that reflects Tsuna's full potential. He's much calmer, and confident, then Tsuna is usually, and consistently more reliable, but still just as caring and accepting. He presents him self as a leader, and as such is usually followed When interacting with Tsuna Giotto takes on a fatherly, or big brother, role. Giotto's willingness to fight for Tsuna, and Tsuna's friends, doesn't just come from the fact that Tsuna is his master, it shows that Tsuna himself is willing to fight to protect. For all that he will fight Giotto, like Tsuna now, doesn't seem to like it, and would much rather talk things out.
Other Skills/Abilities:
The most notable of Tsuna's abilities is one that he inherited form his father. The ability to bring dolls to life using The Flame Of Life. Tsuna him self carries the sky flame which allows him to be able to bring any kind of doll to life, which not all Flames Of Life can do. When a doll is brought to life by the flame it takes on a human form, and gains a personality that reflects it's master's full potential. Tsuna uses his flame to bring one particular doll to life having chosen this doll as his companion. Tsuna's doll is designed and named after his ancestor Ieyasu Giotto Sawada.
Other then that Tsuna has an ability known as Hyper Inutition, which means his intuition is higher then a normal person's is. It has many uses, and can tell him many things like when people are lying to him, hiding something, or have any ill intent towards him or his loved ones. It's not impossible to fool Hyper Intuition, how ever it is quite hard.
Other Weaknesses:
Tsuna's friends and family are his biggest weakness as well as his biggest strength.
Also Tsuna's loser complex, and lack of self confidence can be considered a weakness.
He can't fight him self, though he is learning, and he's pretty weak physically.
His kindness, and compassion are another huge weakness of his.
History:
In this world Tsuna's family isn't part of the mafia, but rather from a long line of doll makers, and Doll Masters. He's a descendant of Ieyasu Giotto Sawada, a Legendary Doll Master who is well known and respected as the greatest doll master even now, 400 years after his death. The job of being a doll maker, and Doll Master was passed down through the generations in the Sawada family.
Growing up Tsuna was surrounded by dolls as his mother Nana Sawada, and his father Iemitsu Sawada were both doll makers and lived above the doll shop that they owned. Tsuna was never really a very adventurous child, and was always more then happy to stay home and play with the dolls. He was four years old when he first saw the doll of his ancestor which was a family heirloom. Tsuna didn't know why, or how, but the four year old had found him lying on the floor out of it's case. He picked up the doll of Giotto and tried to put it away, but was much too short to reach. So Tsuna did what any normal four year old would do, he sat down and watched TV with the doll. Sitting it in his lap and pretending it was a real person. His mother had been surprised to see him with the priceless doll, and even more surprised when she heard what Tsuna said had happened. He expected to get scolded and have the doll taken away, but instead his mother gave him a pat on the head and told him that lunch was ready for both he and the doll.
After that Tsuna carried the doll, Giotto, around with him everywhere that he went. Tsuna was also five when he first discovered his power. He had been at the park down the street from his house with Giotto, and his mother, playing by himself. Nana had turned away for a little bit to talk to some other mothers, and that was when Tsuna was kidnapped. Someone just came up and grabbed him while no one was paying attention. Tsuna was confused, terrified, and didn't know where he was being taken just that he didn't want to go with these men. No one noticed that the five year old's hands started to glow orange, even as they put him in the back seat of the get away car. The more confused and scared Tsuna got the brighter his hands glowed, and by the time the kidnappers realized it Tsuna was already giving off enough of a flame to make Giotto take a human form. Tsuna passed out soon after from terror and the effort of using his power. All he would remember of the incident would be a pair of concerned amber eyes, and a man's calming voice assuring him that everything would be alright, and he would be home soon.
More then ever after that Tsuna carried Giotto around after that, and was even able to make his doll human again a few times though he would often fall asleep afterwards, and not usually remember what had happened very well. This lasted until he was seven years old. When he was seven he finally got tired of being teased and bullied for carrying Giotto around, and more then that he felt bad that his mom had to keep fixing the doll and it's clothes. He stubbornly insisted that the doll be placed back into it's case after it was fixed up again. Tsuna also started claiming that he wouldn't take over the doll shop when he was an adult, because he was a boy and boys didn't play with, or have, or deal with dolls. This obviously made Nana sad, and a little disappointed in her son, but she accepted his words hoping that this was just a phase that he was going through.
Nothing else really important happened to Tsuna again until he was fourteen. Nana got a call from her husband who was over seas on work one day and was told that one of his friends who was a professional home tutor would be coming to tutor Tsuna, who was keeping a steady D/F average in school. The reality was discovered by Tsuna almost as soon as his father's friend arrived.
The man's name was Reborn, and he started to turn Tsuna life in to whAt seemed like a living hell for the teenager. He told Tsuna that he had come to train the boy to become a Doll Master. Someone who could not only bring dolls to life, but fought along side the dolls as well. At first Tsuna thought that Reborn was crazy. His training and tutoring methods were crazy, and nearly killed Tsuna many times. Tsuna tried protesting and getting him to leave, but nothing that Tsuna did ever worked. However before Tsuna realized it Reborn's methods started to draw people to him, and they weren't bullies. They were people who could be his allies, his friends.
First was Takeshi Yamamoto, a classmate of Tsuna's who started being interested in Tsuna when he saw the brunette talking to Giotto, and then turn to doll back into a doll. He later became Tsuna's friend when the boy unknowingly helped him into a tight spot, and then helped Yamamoto get back out. Then the Sasagawa siblings, Kyoko and Ryohei, who started to notice Tsuna after he and Giotto helped Kyoko, Tsuna's crush, out of a tight spot involving a few perverts. The Doll Master Hayato Gokudera, and his doll G, came and challenged Tsuna, and Giotto to see if Tsuna was really the descendant of the Legendary Doll Master. After a fight filled with a lot of dumb luck on Tsuna's part, and saving Gokudera and G form killing them selves with their own weapons Tsuna and Giotto won, and Gokudera swore that he'd follow Tsuna for the rest of his life. If you ever ask him about where Lambo came from though Tsuna won't have an answer for you because that day had just been so bizarre. All of this commotion also got the attention of one Hibari Kyouya.
As Tsuna gathered new allies Reborn used his crazy methods to train them as well as Tsuna, telling them that sooner or later someone strong would come to kill them and Tsuna. It would turn out that Reborn's eventually would come sooner then any of them expected, and in the form of one Rokudo Mukuro. A rouge doll who was able to not only bring him self to life, but other dolls as well. He attacked people at not only Tsuna's school, but surrounding school as well. People who had the potential to be Doll Master, according to Reborn. Reborn warned Tsuna that Mukuro would eventually come after him and his friends, but Tsuna didn't believe him at first thinking that Reborn was just being paranoid. It wasn't until Ryohei was attacked that Tsuna realized that Reborn had been right all along. Reborn some how managed to convince Tsuna to go and fight Mukuro and his dolls with his friends. Getting to where Mukuro and his dolls were hiding was the easy part. Fighting him? Not so much. It didn't help Tsuna's confidence much that Hibari had already been beaten. However Tsuna and Giotto were able to knock Mukuro out cold, and temporarily turn him back to his doll form. That was also when they learned of his past, and most of the anger that Tsuna had held towards Mukuro for hurting his friends left. Tsuna even tried to stop the strange people that came and took Mukuro and his two other dolls away though Reborn and Giotto both had to hold him back.
After that there was only a short time of peace, if you could call it that with Reborn still training Tsuna and his friends, before the next people came to try to kill Tsuna. This time it was a group of Doll Masters known as the Varia. they had come to see if the rumors about strong Doll Masters who were mere children that were gathering in Japan was true. Though they were not expecting for Tsuna and his friends to be those Doll Masters formal challenges were issued, and there was no choice to accept, and win. The Varia were not known for their kindness or mercy. The training was more intense then ever, but Tsuna also gained new allies, Dino Cavallone, and Basil, but that wasn't all. Tsuna also learned a little more about his heritage, and why his father was gone over seas so often. For the actual battles, a week and a half after the challenge was issued the battles started. There was one each night where one person from each side with the same Flame Of Life type faced off. The matches were life or death ones, and every single one nearly gave Tsuna a heart attack. Tsuna and his friends won enough battles that they ended up being the winners, not that that made the Varia like them any better.
Now once more there's a bit of peace in Tsuna's life. Though he's starting to get the horrible feeling that something is going to go terribly wrong once more, and he and his friends will be forced to fight once more.
Canon Point:
Shortly after the Varia battles.
Reality Description:
Reality Description:
This AU is sent in the same Namimori as the cannon. A typical modern day japanese town complete with quiet neighborhoods, parks, a shopping district, and elementary, middle, and high schools all protected by a super scary prefect. The most notable places are the Sawada Residence, the Sawada Family's Doll Shop, and Namimori Middle School because many of the crazy things that happen happen in these places.
Doll Masters are quite like a secret society, or an underground group, because they're not known by the general public any more like they were about 400 years ago. In fact you won't even find them mentioned in history books, or anything of the sort. They've become things of bed times stories for children. They also seem to be much fewer in number. It used to be that any person who made dolls was a Doll Master as well, this is not so any more in fact most people who make dolls today don't have the power to be a Doll Master. Only those with the power known as The Flame Of Life, and the ability to turn dolls to a human form can be called a Doll Master. When a doll is brought to life by the flame it takes on a human form, and gains a personality that reflects it's master's full potential. Most doll masters have one doll called their companion that they keep with them always, and like to bring to life the most. These dolls are not only used as companions, but protectors as well.
