Fish lovers. Question?

So um, I went to PetCetra, which is going out of business, so EVERYTHING in the store was 80-90%. I won't bore you with the details of what I bought (needless to say, I had a blast) but I picked up a Betta Condo (why you ask? because I'm a consumate shopper, and it was $1 ( Read more... )

Yes they live well in small areas. 'Wild' bettas live in the equivalent of mud puddles, so they'll be fine.

I always changed water every other week, and about 50%. I'd do a full change every other month and dose it real good with some chemicals to knock out whatever was in the well water and to help promote their natural 'slime' coat. They usually do better on freeze dried brine rather than the flakes. And a happy male betta is a betta that makes a bubble nest :)

OUrs just died this spring and he was 6 yrs old. That is quite old, or the oldest we've had one live anyhow. We kept him in a gallon size fish bowl. REmember to not fill a bowl full as you want the water level to be as close to being at the widest part of the bowl as possible. The more water surface area the better ( ... )

No ideas about Betas, but I saw our Petcetera is closing too... I didn't realize the whole chain was going down!

Betas are pretty hardy, and they can live in small spaces. Mine usually lived at least a couple of years. Actually, the only time I have fish die a lot is when I use a tank. Betas and goldfish in bowls have done much better, which is kinda wierd...
