Unfortunately, some people will never have supportive families and I am one of those people.

Yes, that is unfortunate. Do you have a "chosen" family of friends? If not, may be a support group would be helpful?

I don't really have any friends, it's just me, my cat/rat and the internet. I'm a hermit.

I have a therapist now so that's sort of like a support group.

oh, so you decided to stick with the therapist? Hows that going???? I know you had had reservations and said that you did not like talking about yourself.

I know I don't know you very well...we only just met...but I am friendly and always around if you need to talk.

I'm so glad you posted this. I have applied for a job interviewing mentally ill clients to evaluate what state services they might be eligible for. Outside of having a couple of friends with mental health issues, I don't really have a lot of knowledge or experience with this. I don't even know if I will be called for an interview but I want to learn more anyway. This looks like a good starting point for learning more.
