I run across a lot of things in books and daily perusing of materials for classes and students...and teachers.

Actually...I avoid talking about it. :-)

I'm always reminded of George Washington's speech as he left office. He said that the 2 things that would weaken America were [political] parties and foreign affairs.

Now we basically have a 2-party system that is a mess with one side against the other. If you're not in one, then you aren't represented and are seen as both a traitor and an accomplice of each side.

I am sure that my name is on paper as one...so that I could vote in a primary election.

I shall claim neither party...and I 'belong' to none of them!

Usually, I'm conservative on a lot of issues (especially after being in different countries), but I'm quite liberal on a lot of others. So none of those parties actually represents me either.
