Adbusters.org

I run across a lot of things in books and daily perusing of materials for classes and students...and teachers.

One such thing I came across was Adbusters.org.

What I saw first was their pointing out that when people watch television, they are basically being programmed by advertising and the different television 'programing' that is presented.

Of course, I like that a lot. It's true. It's all social programming. [Any moron can see this by watching 5 minutes of MTV--if they can't see it on any other channel like CNN or FoxNews, both of which include social programming.]

Unfortunately, when I got to their web site, I found that they are just as much the enemy as they are the anarchists.

They sell calendars, books (written by the editor), shoes (for goodness-sake!)...and shoes being labeled and branded as 'environmentally friendly'. Branding is, by the way, exactly what they say they are against!
And I'm sure that these shoes are environmentally friendly...they look like they are made from garbage--I'm sure the mark-up on a product like that is fantastic. I'm curious what the profit margin is.

Basically, they are trying to make money and a name for themselves by being exactly what they are against.

And the didn't stop with at being 'anti-'advertising and branding. [Something that they do themselves for the same reason other companies do it--to make money.]

The go on to be anti-republican.

Well, I can see being anti-advertising. I can see being anti-branding. I understand being anti-culture. I can even see being anti-republican.
But they aren't anti-democrat.

Well...I say, if you're going to go against the system, then go against everything wrong in the system...and for me, that would be all of those political parties...because they are all trying to socially program and propagandize what we think, see and do.

So basically...while they say they want to save the world from social programming...REALLY they want to program you to their side of the programming.

We usually call that one of 2 things:

1. Politics

2. Business

It looks like they are a little bit of both!

You are what you eat...and watch...and the music you listen to...and pretty much, you're socially programmed. [We all are...Welcome to the new world, or little Global Village.]
