[CRASH. Chie's device clicks on at the impact of hitting the ground - it seems both she and the communicator have been knocked over with a great deal of force. The picture's unclear, just an oddly askew view of the sky and surrounding buildings, and there's noise in the background - something very large and unfriendly moving in the close vicinity

She had seen the shadow of the creature first. By the time she had thought to look up, Chie's voice had alerted her. Eyes wide, she managed to roll out of the way of its landing, but -
Her fist closed tight around her hatchet. If it was slow, maybe she could... Keeping her distance, she threw her weapon forward by its chain, but... No. Her hatchet was too small, it practically bounced right off the giant creature.
She yelped as it swiped a paw at her. If only she had Medea here....! Casting a glance over to Chie, she was relieved to see that the other girl seemed to be calling for help - if they could even get there in time.]

Well, rocks on the ground are plentiful in Discedo - Chie snatches one off the ground and hurls it in the direction of the rampaging creature with as much force as she can muster.]
Hey! Get away from her!
[The rock lands on the rapan's back, but the rapan pays it no heed. It's just a tiny rock, after all. What harm can a tiny rock - indeed, what harm can two tiny girls do in comparison to its hulking form?]

[But she cuts herself off. No, throwing rocks at it wasn't effective, but what would be? But if she could aim for its eyes...
She certainly tries. Her closest hits its nose, but even that doesn't seem to do much of anything. Chidori feels ridiculous, pathetic in her helplessness, but this is the best the two of them have to use right now. But the rapan is getting more and more aggravated, its nose twitching, mouth twisting into a snarl, and Chidori -
Chidori eventually realizes she isn't moving away; just standing there, staring at it. Was there really a point in trying? Something like that could catch up to her with one step. Something like that could...]
(OOC: AFTER CHIE'S NEXT POST, everyone else can pop in! :3)

The rapan and Chidori seem to be locked in a staredown for the moment, but who's to say how long it will last? Chie knows she has to do something, now. She's supposed to protect people, right? If Chidori were hurt because she failed to protect her from this thing - well, no time to think about that now. Don't think - feel. And what Chie feels is her heart pounding, muscles tensing, adrenaline racing through her body - time to launch a more powerful attack.
It's punting time.
A snap of neurons fire in her brain, and Chie's feet kick into overdrive, propelling her forward at top speed toward the creature. She counts the seconds to impact, mentally calculating the distance between them: one ... two ... three ... four ... Almost there, and she readies to kick with a great war cry.]
HIIIYAAAAAAAAH!
[She never makes it. The beast turns at just the right ( ... )
