[CRASH. Chie's device clicks on at the impact of hitting the ground - it seems both she and the communicator have been knocked over with a great deal of force. The picture's unclear, just an oddly askew view of the sky and surrounding buildings, and there's noise in the background - something very large and unfriendly moving in the close vicinity

The rapan and Chidori seem to be locked in a staredown for the moment, but who's to say how long it will last? Chie knows she has to do something, now. She's supposed to protect people, right? If Chidori were hurt because she failed to protect her from this thing - well, no time to think about that now. Don't think - feel. And what Chie feels is her heart pounding, muscles tensing, adrenaline racing through her body - time to launch a more powerful attack.
It's punting time.
A snap of neurons fire in her brain, and Chie's feet kick into overdrive, propelling her forward at top speed toward the creature. She counts the seconds to impact, mentally calculating the distance between them: one ... two ... three ... four ... Almost there, and she readies to kick with a great war cry.]
HIIIYAAAAAAAAH!
[She never makes it. The beast turns at just the right second and bats Chie to the side, like a cat with a toy mouse. Chie goes crashing back to the ground, vicious claw marks woven in contrasting slits across the arm of her jacket.
The world stops for a moment. The impact leaves Chie with the wind knocked completely out of her, and as she struggles to recover and get back to her feet - have to fight can't give up can't lose - she sees advancing figures in the distance.]
They're ... here ...
[Her voice is faint; Chie has no idea if Chidori can even hear her, at this distance. Perhaps it's more for herself, a reassurance that they weren't beaten yet. Soon, soon, help would be there.]

Chie! [He calls out, rushing to her side. He could see Chidori up ahead as well, frozen in place.]
Chidori-san, get away from there!

[Size indeed. That thing was huge. It made the shadows he had so much experience fighting look puny. He wouldn't be able to take it down in one hit like most of the monsters around Discedo... So first, they had to make sure the girls were safe and out of the way. Souji was obviously headed towards Chie, so Yousuke broke off and made for Chidori.]
Watch out! [He yells towards her, trying to get her attention. If that Rapan got any closer, he'd have to tackle her out of the way, and that would leave them both open to counterattack.]

She could muse over it later. Blinking once, those dark thoughts crept out of head, and she nodded over to Yosuke: still managing a calm exterior despite her shaking hands, or at the very least going through the motions of being unruffled, unaffected by something that could easily crush her in its fist. Keeping a wary eye on the Rapan, she backed away with fast, small steps, before her gaze returned to the two boys.
And what could they do? Everything she couldn't; they could summon that inner voice, make it manifest in something palpable, with form. Something rose in her throat, like bile, as her eyes narrowed. If what Teddie had said was true, then...]
(OOC: Sorry for the delay, guys - wasn't sure if anyone else wanted to hop in :x)

They'd have to fight it another way.
In front of Chidori?
After she pretty much grilled him about Personas, Souji was starting to dread the inevitable backlash he knew he'd face after this. It sort of made his stomach churn; she'd be pretty angry that he lied and tried to hide it, wouldn't she? Or just horribly blunt, which was somehow worse. But Chie was hurt, Chidori was defenseless, and Kanji didn't have his Persona to back him up.]
Yousuke. [He calls out, certain he'd get the idea of what to do. The Rapan was starting to move too...]
