In its earlier sit-down avatar on Bull Temple Road, it was known for doling out copious quantities of chutney in buckets. No sooner had you emptied half the chutney on your plate, a waiter would materialize and pour a bucket of the stuff into your plate. The main item on the menu here was the "khali dosa" (not to be confused with "plain dosa"). No ( Read more... )

It is 3 am here. And I am racing against time to complete a geometric modeling assignment due tomorrow. Was checking my feeds and I see this. Oh boy! Now I am hungry! We have some dosa place here - haven't tried it yet. For some ridiculous price, I will probably get dosa which is half the quality of what one can get in B'lore darshinis. *SIGH*.

May be the free chutney offer ended by the time I started going there regularly, because it was limited to 2 cups and in fact there was even a big board saying no more than 2 cups of chutney will be given. So I guess in NR colony if they are giving out free chutney in unlimited quantities its a good thing. One place where you still get lots of good chutney is brahmins coffee bar in shankarapuram, where a guy who sells lottery tickets and other stuff pours as much chutney as you want as many times as you want.

oh ok
bad stuff if they limited the chutney

and i've seen the guy outside brahmin's. however, now there are no lottery tickets (karnataka banned lottery some 2 yrs back). but again it's an excellent idea. especially given the refugee camp that happens inside
