Compline

There is nothing quite like Compline at St Mark's. At least, not that I've experienced. The music, the quiet words, the dim lights, the big empty space, and the dozens of teenagers and 20-somethings sprawled all over altar area. Ah! I wish I could have been there too. Thanks for posting your reflections, this does take me back. I know what you mean, it's such a precious part of any visit to the Northwest for me.

It's a weird paradox for me, I'm not religeous, I don't believe, I'm an agnostic technocrat. But when I see the thought and feeling that goes into creating an old Church or Mosque, I recognize that this beauty can only come from a yearning faith that tries to connect with the eartly and the heavenly. Don't know if that's anything like what you meant but I thought I'd mention it. BTW, having Tanksgiving with a Turkish friend who's moved here from the States, looking forward to it, I still have happy memories of the one you cooked a few years ago. Take care. K.
