Gimme!

I normally avoid making "gimme" posts, but with my 30th birthday fast approaching, I feel that I am entitled to a little consolation. So if anyone wants to provide me with a little solace to mark this milestone, my Amazon wishlist can be found here. Everything should be up to date and rated, and there's some pretty cheap stuff on there ( ( Read more... )

Oh, how innocently you ask that question, assuming a simple answer! I am homeless at the moment. I think I will be working in Ohio in October, but I have no guarantee of that whatsoever. I'm hoping to sort out renting a house this week in Virginia, but again no guarantees. My best guess for my address in the next couple of months is:

Lancaster Inn
1858 N Memorial Dr
Lancaster, OH 43130

The Sony reader isn't compatible with Macs.
However
If you have a bit more cash then I thoroughly recommend the iRex Iliad as being far far superior to the Sony. They've started selling readers in the UK now and the nice bloke at Boarders let me at the iRex.
As far as the user interface goes, the Sony probably has all the buttons in better places but that doesn't really matter with the iRex as it has a stylus so you can press the the on-screen icons.
The iRex screen is larger, mainly due to not having so many buttons taking up the console.
Lastly, the iRex has a notepad function so you can actually write on it as well as read from it.

The Sony beats the iRex in two areas, one is the price; the Sony is about 25-50% cheaper. The other is the time it takes for the menu screens to load. the iRex does lag a bit. When you're reading a book or a document though, there's no noticable difference between the two.

It doesn't say whether or not the iRex is compatible with Macs but it doesn't say it isn't.

Thanks hon! I've never heard of this one, but I'll look into it. The "i" in the iRex makes me think it must be Mac compatible.

I looked into the iRex and it's about twice as expensive as the Kindle ($700 for the second edition). Bleh. May have to wait a bit for the price to come down.
