Chemistry in Skins

Jan 31, 2011 23:41

I'm bored and thought this would be an interesting discussion. There are characters in Skins who are supposed to work together, but don't because of lack of chemistry (Michelle/Tony, Michelle/Sid), characters who do work (Cook/Effy, Cook/Freddie, Cook/Naomi, Cook/everything in the world), and episodes that are infinitely improved because of just ( Read more... )

The Cook/Freddie "All you've got to do is stop" scene is one of my favorites ever on the show, Jack and Luke killed it.

THIS. Jack and Luke had such great chemistry which made all their scenes awesome.

any scene Cook/Freddie had together

I mean it's one thing to have chemistry but Jack and Luke were practically mindfucking each other whenever together

I also really loved Effy and Pandora's chemistry; I really wish we'd seen more development with them, either with Effy actually letting Pandora get close to her, or Panda growing up with Effy beside her because they could've made such a gorgeous friendship. It drove me nuts that Gen 2 was so romantically driven because we missed out on so much.

Development between Freddie and Cook would've been amazing because Jack brings out such a spark in Luke when they act together, and I really wish that they had kept Cook and Effy as something light so we didn't have to deal with so much drama.

I love what we've seen of Alo & Rich together, & think they're going to spark off in a light way that I've missed so much. I love seeing friendships, especially ~bromances cause there's something so endearing and innocent about them.

& just so I'm not forgetting about Gen 1, I really loved Chris with everyone too. Particularly with Jal, they had really understated, subtle chemistry which was lovely.

Also I loved Gen One as a group, I thought everyone came across as really comfortable together. I bought even smaller friendships like Sid/Jal or Michelle/Maxxie, something I think that was missing in Gen 2.

I had trouble even thinking of characters in Gen 1 with chemistry but not for lack of it being there; like you said, I think it was very comfortable. there didn't have to be obvious fireworks for it to work, it was all so subtle and lovely. & I agree with missing it in Gen 2; I really think Gen 2 could've been amazing if they'd focussed on the friendships.

Agreed. I love seeing smaller friendships such as Sid/Jal and Michelle/Maxxie. I really bought that they've been friends for a long time.
