This is just another massive poll. It's for fun and curiosity only and maybe good discussions.

I chose Jal and Freddie for most realistic characters. Jal for the reasons someone wrote above, and with Freddie it's because I can sympathise with him very, very much so. He's a regular teenage boy who's selfish at times but ultimately tries his hardest to do best for himself and those around him. He's into partying but he doesn't go mental, and he does care about school but is extremely lazy with it. Watches porn, gets upset, probably smokes and drinks too much, gets infatuated by girls, has an arrogance about him but also extreme self doubt and inferiority with regards to his friends and family. He feels like a regular teenage boy.

I do relate to a number of issues in Skins and for the most part feel like they deal with it well on the whole.

THIS.
I feel like the characters that most people really don't care for are the ones that are the most realistic.

I really appreciated that storyline. I'm not much of a fan of Gen 1 because the characters never really resonated with me like the Gen 2 ones did, but the storylines were wonderfully handled and the archs that the characters went through were just so simple, so easy to relate to and felt like they were real. Coffin stealing and all, they all made sense in terms of what the characters were like even if it all bordered on ridiculous a lot of the time.

I think in gen 1 Jal really is the only character that I feel to be more realistic. Michelle and Sid had potential for that, but there was a lot of caricature and ott about them.

In gen 2, Emily, Naomi and Freddie all seemed more realistic, JJ could have been more realistic but I think they screwed up his character.

Of all gen 1 and gen 2 characters, Naomi is the only one I can relate to in some way. Not a lot, but there are things about her that really hit home.

I don't relate to many of those storylines, but I think other than Effy's mental illness, everything was handled great or well enough.

One storyline that you didn't mention specifically, which I think is one that Skins is pretty unique in its handling of, is how teenagers relate to their parents and vice versa ( ... )

ITA.
Though TBH, aside from the Fitches and the Jones, I'm really not a fan of Gen 2 parents. They're all either twats or cliches.

I picked Jal as the most relatable S1 character. Watching her first episode right after Cassie's (one of my favorite Skins eps ever) her episode seemed really boring and she didn't appeal to me, but looking back her storyline was well done, she seems boring and predictable but she's so real, a great friend and a voice of reason in the group. And I definitely relate to being the studious one/loser of a group of friends.

Gen 2 I picked Emily, again being the quiet/studious one, but having this fire and wit under it all that only certain people see, I find that very relatable. Her and Naomi's S3 storyline was so amazing.

Other than Emily, my favorite characters aren't really the most realistic/relatable ones, seems to be a theme here though ;P

Also, wanting Naomi, lol noice one.
