Still trying to come to terms with the fact that the long weekend is over.

Thanksgiving was low-key.  Was supposed to drive to Ottawa, but very non-interesting complications ensured that my visit to the family in Ottawa got put off to another weekend later this month.  So, I got to relax and putter.  Jack drove up to Orillia to see his mom on Sunday

Hey I have wondered this...how can Jack have one riding, then there is one to the left of that (Toronto centre?) and then have his wife have the riding next to that? Don't you have to live in your riding? I guess not. Anyways why is Toronto Centre liberal and the other 2 are NDP? It seems like a little anomaly I am interested in.

I don't think there is any rule that you have to live in your riding, but it obviously helps with the voters I suppose. Jack and Olivia get around that problem because their respective ridings loosely match the old City Council wards that they represented as Councillors for ages.

As to why Toronto Centre is a Liberal anomoly between two NDP ridings, there are strong Liberal and NDP bases in all three ridings. But Toronto Centre also happens to contain Rosedale, which is perhaps one of the most NDP-unfriendly ridings in all of Toronto. You don't see too many orange election signs in Rosedale.

I like all the colours on the riding map that are not Tory blue.

No Tory seats here either!!! All the seats within the city of Vancouver either went Liberal or NDP! My riding, which was previously held by David Emerson, went NDP!

I was happy to see that the Tories didn't keep that one. Back in 2006, I had expressed some disgust with Emerson in my LJ.
