Gah, for a moment there I thought you were going to say Ivan died or something. Don't scare me like that!

*laughs* I tried to tip it off a bit with the cheesy intro music bit. Ivan is still alive, well, and as annoying (in a cute way) as ever.

'tis always so sad when kitchen appliances die before their time. I hope my kitchenaid stand mixer lives forever.

If my Kitchenaid died I would be in mourning for WEEKS!. Months, even! It's the best kitchen appliance I own, even if it weighs a ton and takes up half a counter. My mom has one that's older than I am and still going strong in all of its olive green glory.

I'm sad the rice cooker died, but I used the opportunity to replace it with one of the super fancy Japanese ones that does everything except brush your teeth after you're done eating. I eat enough rice and other non-traditional grains due to the wheat issue that it's completely worth it.

Isn't it cool to be able to replace appliances? We went crazy and replaced a couple before they even died! The crap I could afford 10 years ago just wasn't meant to last 10 years. . .

Sure is! I still have some of my crappy old appliances, but most of them have died or just gotten too slimey to tolerate and are getting replaced by the good stuff. I should have bought a decent rice cooker the first time around around since that was a recentish purchase, but I wasn't sure how much I'd actually use it. Now I know. So I'm buying the one they use in Japan.
