more issues with boch honda

Jul 07, 2007 21:53

so when my car wasn't ready when promised they gave me a rental and told me that it would be paid for by them, including whatever gas i used. i checked my credit card transactions online just now, and what did i find? a $60.58 charge from the rental agency. i'm assuming it's because i had to keep the car an extra day, but it still seems high. $61 sounds right for a days rental...

I can't believe you've had so many problems. I've never had 1/10th the issues you've had and I think I've bought at least 10 new cars in the last 10 years.

Wow, that's really expensive! I haven't rented a car in a long time so I had no idea.

I don't understand why I've had so many problems either. :( It makes me never want to buy a car again.

They probably took advantage of you because you appear as a first time buyer. I'm pretty cut and dry when I buy a car right now... I know the price I'm looking for AND how much time I'm willing to spend. If either criteria isn't met I walk and walk fast. sorry to hear your experience has been such a nightmare - I love buying cars - usually pretty fun!

Where is Boch again...route 1 Auto Mile? You ended up there because the internet said they would give you the best price, right? My first Honda was at Cambridge. 2nd was Herb Chambers and everything went smoothly. Don't let this deter you from buying new cars in the future...it's just Boch perhaps.

Yeah, that's the one. I was all set to buy from Herb Chambers, but Boch gave me a better price and they're easier for me to get to, which is why I chose them. Never again!

Since it is on your credit card you can always put in a dispute of the charges. Wow I am surprised that they are so horrible at customer service you would think that they would be better since Ernie Boch is such a big wig around here. Maybe you should send another letter to the manager and send a CC of the letter to Ernie Boch himself.

The manager called me back yesterday and said that he can't process a refund to my credit card, but he'll have a refund sent via check by the end of the week.

I thought they would have been better too, since they're such a big company! But after Bonnie's comment in my last entry I checked them out on the Better Business Bureau's website, and they've had 84 complaints filed against them in the past 3 years, which is extremely high.

Based on what you ahve told me about this place I still wouldn't trust them that the check is in the mail. I would put in that dispute.. He can't process a refund makes no sense at all. All credit card machines has this little button that says "returns" even at restaurants and we have processed returns at a restaurant I worked at before. Ok it was an accident that the lady hit return for all the meals she "charged" LOL the mgr was not too happy.. In any event I have never heard of not being able to process a refund to your card. If you want to take the high road and let them be wait until next Friday the 20th if no check comes then don't bother calling them just file a complaint with your CC.

The reason he said he can't process a refund to my credit card it because the rental agency is considered a different company. i looked at the receipt i have, and it does say "boch toyota" on it, so that makes sense. and i don't know if i'd be able to win a dispute with the cc company, since the slip says the car was suppposed to be returned on 6/27 and i didn't return it until 6/28. i'm basically screwed either way, but i'll keep harassing him about it if i don't hear back within a couple of days.

WTF?! Seriously, they're idiots! If I were you, I'd call your credit card company and file a dispute. If the credit card sides with you, the retailer gets wacked with a huge penalty charge by the credit card company. That's one way to stick it to them.

i wish i could do that! i'm not sure if i'd be able to win though, since the rental receipt says the car is to be returned on 6/27 and i didn't return it until 6/28. not to mention that it doesn't say anywhere on it that honda would be paying for it, it just has a handwritten p.o. number at the top. they'd know what that meant internally, but i don't think it will fly with the cc company. the guy called me yesterday and promised to send a refund check this week so we'll see. if i don't get one i'm sending j there to hurry things along.

I'd file a dispute anyway. Sometimes, the threat of it is enough to get the other party to resolve the issue quickly. The credit card company will handle all communications, which relieves you the annoyance of having to deal with Boch further. Also, it doesn't matter if the receipt says the car was supposed to be returned by a certain date. Boch told you verbally they would pay the extra day. They're on the hook for paying the bill.

I've filed disputes, and they're not difficult at all.
