First thing this morning. I get up to get ready for work and go to the bathroom. I'm standing there in front of the toilet, half asleep and peeing when the toilet lid decides to fall. Sucks to be sure, but better than the guy I saw this morning lying in the road who had apparently just been involved in an automobile accident. I don't know if he was a pedestrian or had been thrown from the car, but you got a much better deal this morning, for sure. (He was being attended to by several people, and I could hear emergency vehicles arriving from behind me.)

When you get home, take a look at the plastic nuts that thread onto the bolts that hold the toilet seat to the bowl. They might be loose. If you tighten them back up, there's less chance of having the seat fall on delicate anatomy while you're standing.

How do I know? I grew up in a house with fuzzy toilet seat covers.

Check for a sharp inner edge if the seat is plastic....
or it might cut when you're sitting down or when you get up...
