Home Sweet Home (Picspam)

It's taking some time, but my new apartment is beginning to look and feel more like a home and I cannot tell you how much I love living here. I've still got plenty of work to do on it as far as decor and whatnot goes, but it's coming along. ( Here are some pics. )

Haha, I have the older Bob Seger greatest hits, but I love the new cover. I'm tempted to get it to throw in my car. And the Jack Handey book - AMAZING.

I would also give my left arm for a fraction of your CD collection. So much of mine got stolen out of my car years ago and I've slowly replaced it but exclusively digitally. :(

Haha there are certain Seger songs that haven't aged the best with me, like "Like A Rock" and "Old Time Rock And Roll", but I still really like him overall and I still enjoy those songs once in a while -- I just can't hear them very often. I have the first Deep Thoughts somewhere, but it hasn't turned up yet.

My CD collection is my pride and joy and it totally crushes me whenever I hear about something like that happening to someone's music collection. It also saddens me to know CD's won't be around much longer. : (

I was DEVASTATED when my car got broken into. So many of them were from small local bands that I'd bought when they were on tour and I couldn't find to purchase anymore because they'd broken up or whathaveyou. It kills me to this day. :(

Your new place actually looks a lot like my old place. Except for those cool lamps in your living room, lol. Is that a framed sketch of Edward Norton from Fight Club on your wall in the first one?

I've been meaning to take some pics of my new place too (I just moved a couple months ago and I'm always working so I never have time for anything). I got this awesome movie shelf I've been wanting to show off, it has a lot of my knick knacks on it because it has these glass thingies on top of each part of the shelf, and it goes down each level almost like stairs. I also have vintage comics and action figures hanging up that I want people to see and a couple new posters.

Huh, it does look a bit like Norton from Fight Club now that you mention it, but it's actually a sketch I had an artist do of an old promotional picture of Chris Randall of one of my all time favorite bands, Sister Machine Gun. Here's the original.

Oh yeah, I remember them! weren't they on the original Crow soundtrack? lol, you probably get that all the time from people. I'll probably look them up on Youtube tonight and refamiliarize myself.

So close! Both volumes of the original Mortal Kombat soundtrack. Totally worth refamiliarizing yourself. Great '90s industrial, with a bluesy funk vibe. Here's their first track from Mortal Kombat and the first song I ever heard from them.

and here's another track just for the hell of it. I actually like the album version more than this single version. Album version is a little less techno sounding and doesn't have the chick singing.

Dude, I want to come visit you and spend some quality time with that coffee table! Especially the CYA books!

I have boxes of magazines I can't bear to part with under my bed and in my garage. I'm not sure what my logic is. Will I really revisit them when I'm old? Really? Perhaps I will. You're putting yours to good use now! (sadly my coffee table is too cluttered with CRAP, and I actually have a lot of "coffee table books" I could display. The only cool/nerdy thing on it is my Serenity Role Player's Guide)

I've been wanting to break out the CYA books for a long time, but didn't know where they were until my parents mentioned I still had a few boxes of crap left in their basement from the first time I moved out.

You should totally try displaying some of your nostalgia if the "crap" on your coffee table isn't crap that needs to be there or that's more important to you. A Serenity RPG? I wanna play!

If you're ever in this region of the country, I hope you'll stop by do spend some quality time with my coffee table. : )

Oh, and by the way, Gibby won National League Manager of the Year! And Verlander got Cy Young AND MVP for the American League. Cheers!

LOL it took my parents a while to get my stuff and my brother's completely out of their (now my mom's) house as well! When we moved into apartments they were okay with storing some stuff but as soon as we got houses, it was "OH HEYYYYY YOU HAVE ROOM FOR THIS CRAP NOW, TAKE IT!"

Yay for Gibby and Verlander! I did hear about that... not unexpected on either count :) I miss baseball season already.

I miss it too! I didn't even realize it until I agreed to take care of the last housemate/landlord/friend's pets while he's away for Thanksgiving and turned on MLB Network while hanging out there tonight. They were recapping last leason, talking predictions for next year and going over certain changes in the rules, etc.

Congrats on the new place, man. Lookin' good. Don't wanna know anything about the Kleenex, but thanks for making me uncomfortably aware of its presence!

Oh, and you'll appreciate this: on the 12th i went and saw Airborne Toxic Event live. They were awesome!!!!! I totally want to buy a Gretsch Silver Falcon now, because that's what Mikel the singer was playing. Oh, and Josh and Breezy are playing here down the street from me the day after Thanksgiving. They do it every year.

Thanks! Haha and you're very welcome! I really didn't want the kleenex to go unnoticed.

Airborne Toxic Event?! I only somewhat recently realized they're a good band and I'd love to see them live. Did I mention I saw the Meat Puppets a couple weeks ago? FANTASTIC show! Also, cool about JOsh and Breezy. I'd like to see them again, too.

Thank you! :) It's not a bracelet, though, it's a ring. :)
