Home Sweet Home (Picspam)

It's taking some time, but my new apartment is beginning to look and feel more like a home and I cannot tell you how much I love living here. I've still got plenty of work to do on it as far as decor and whatnot goes, but it's coming along. Here are some pics.

I got the futon from a friend/coworker and intend to get at least one loveseat that matches so I can host things like movie night and not have to worry about half of the attendees having to sit on the floor. Still, I like it being open like this, so I'm not in much of a rush. Oh and there will definitely be some kind of picture up on the wall behind the futon when I decide what I want it to be and have the money to buy/frame it.

My shrunken DVD collection and more CD's.

Bought the lamps last weekend. Spent more money than I planned to, but I love them and I like that they go with Asian style of the corner lamp in the first pic, so it's totally worth it to me (although it's totally bugging me that the TV isn't perfectly centered between them in this pic). The TV is an ancient 25 incher my parents gave me (no audio/video input!) and I intend to mount somewhere between a 46 and 55 inch HD on the wall there when I get my tax return.

My friend, Mike inspired this. He has a few random books out on his coffee table at all times for himself and friends to read. Being the nostalgic packrat I am, I've been lugging around boxes and boxes of old magazines and books I once enjoyed reading dating back to when I was about ten years old and I figure putting some out on the coffee table and rotating them would be a great way to finally put them to use. So, from left to right, we have a stack of various video game magazines and strategy guides from various years (The SNES Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past guide, the Jan/Feb 1989 Nintendo Power, etc), a few Choose Your Own Adventure books I actually look forward to revisiting, a stack of sports and sports card magazines from different years (the August 1987 Beckett Baseball Card Monthly w/ Bo Jackson on the cover on top), some more Choose Your own Adventures and CYOA type books (including some Dungeons & Dragons ones) and Jack Handey's Deeper Thoughts of Saturday Night Live fame, and lastly, a stack of various music mags from random years (the April 2000 Source, featuring Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg & Ice Cube on the cover and a story on California rap). On the shelf and in the drawers underneath, you'll find a young adult picture atlas I loved as a kid, old wrestling magazines, a couple binders full of the sports cards I used to collect, several Garfield books, some sports books, a couple Guinness Book of World Records from the late '80s and more Choose Your Own Adventures. But I guess I've rambled on long enough about the treasures to be found on and in the coffee table (can you tell I'm a little proud of and excited about it?).

More CD's. And the furnace! In my last apartment, the furnace was in my bedroom closet where I stored all my heavy-ass boxes of magazines and baseball cards and whatnot. So, when they came around for furnace inspections a few times a year, I always had to pull those boxes and half of my clothes out of the closet so they could get to it. It was a huge pain in the ass and I'm ridiculously happy that the furnace is out in the open like this. There would also be a bookshelf full of books in this shot, but the bookshelf has been on its last legs for a while and didn't make the move. I'll be replacing it with not one, but two new bookshelves -- one for books and one for magazines and other stuff -- in the near future. I'll also be buying another big media shelf to condense all my little shelves/racks of CD's onto.

One of many old posters I bought in high school. I plan to rotate the ones I still like on various walls in the apartment and chose this one first because I was on a major old school Beastie Boys binge at the time.

The bedroom looks bare nothing on the walls. Soon to be remedied.

I dare you to make a comment about what the kleenex is for. ; )

And the aforementioned posters I still haven't put away.

And I also bought a couple CD's that came out today: Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band's Ultimate Hits: Rock And Roll Never Forgets (double CD only $6.99 brand new!) and Rihanna's Talk The Talk: Deluxe Edition. I already had a Bob Seger "best of", but it didn't have my favorite song of his, Shakedown, and the new album cover is far better than the other one.

Whoa! I just discovered the Rihanna deluxe edition comes with a sample of her new perfume, Rebelle! Well aren't I a lucky devil. : )

So there you have it. I didn't intend this post to be full of long winded rambling as well as photos, but oh well. My first real post in ages if feels like and I'm finally to the point where I should be around much more.
