Thinking about past...

Nov 25, 2005 09:44

Lately, I've been thinking of my past life. By past life, I mean my life 1, 5 or 10 years ago.

It's surprisingly easy to forget something that you used to be a big part of your life, if you just don't do it anymore.

For example, I always used to dress up in my bed. I'd take all my clothes with me to bed, and then I'd dress up sitting there. ( Read more... )

That first statement of yours is quite true... like, for us, highschool. We used to think nothing could beat highschool, but when university came along, highschool was just a distant memory.

And we used to dress up in bed... sometimes, hehehe. When we were younger and not so lazy, we'd actually wake up early on weekends or summer break just to go and play. And since our house is weird (our bedroom is separate from where most of our clothes are, hehe) we would take our clothes the night before and dress up in bed at about dawn the next morning. Sometimes we'd even sleep in our clothes for the next day, hiding them under our other clothes so our parents wouldn't see, haha.

It's also difficult to remember what it's like to stress over your final exams. I was talking with a girl who graduates this year, and I had problems trying to focus on her talking about her ( ... )

*blinks* You really write long comments. Huh. It's nice, of course :D

"What course are you taking in university?"
I study economics... But I also have to study a lot of statistics and mathematics and such. Plus I don't know what my minor subject will be yet, probably accounting (I know... not very exciting :D)

The thing is, in our university, there're no final exams. In university we have an exam after every course, and we graduate once we've enough ECTS credits. There're five semesters (if you count summer), but they aren't at all important - I've no clue when the semester changes.

It's really difficult to explain the Finnish school system in English, because there just aren't words for that, because it's so different from English system... For example, I can't call my previous school "high school", because IMO it's nothing like American high school and would give a totally wrong picture of that (at least if American high school is anything like in the movies...)

Hehe long comments for a long post. :D We don't normally have such long comments, but we're really interested in what you were saying.

Based on what you were saying, about your courses and stuff, your school-system is very, very different from ours... hehe. Are you required to get a major and a minor degree or something? Economics and Accounting? You must be great at math!! hehe

In our school system, we choose only one major course, in our case, Pharmacy. And it's a four year course, two semesters each year, we have different minor subjects leading up to pharmacy (like math, communications, chemistry) and major subjects (pharmaceutical chemistry, etc) but only one degree course (BS-pharmacy). Maybe it's just the Filipino school-system that's different, because your system reminds us sort of of something we read about Prince William or something... hehe.

Oh yes, I love math :) But I hated chemistry :P

We have to have a certain number of studies in our major subject and in minor subject, I'm not entirely sure what "a degree" means, so I can't say :)

I think that the European systems are quite similar (not entirely of course), and universities even more. It's really easy to go to any European country as a transfer student, that's why I think so.

So, do many people speak English in Philippines? If you're able to stick to it I imagine that everyone must speak it at least a little?

I don't think it was so much a language barrier as a a fierce self-preservation instinct that kept you from understanding Backstreet Boys lyrics.

But that's just me.

Might be that, of course :D If I had understood their words I wouldn't have been able to love them :) (Yes, I was a really big fan of theirs...)

I don't remember much from when I was that small, which makes me feel a bit sad, because it was probably cool being 2 years old.
You were too young to understand Backstreet boys lyrics? I'm so old :P I even understood NKOTB. But I only liked them for a week. Backsteet boys I never liked, thank God. When I was in my early teens I liked Nirvana. And that was when Nirvana actually excisted. :P

It's funny, really, to compare what bands people liked when they were young - it tell about which generation they belong. Some friends of mine were New Kids On The Block fans, and they're only few (... okay, 5) years older than I.

Actually, I've no idea what band teenagers love now.

I think your grammar's fine - everyone makes little niggling mistakes but I defy anyone not to think you're a native English speaker.

I was thinking about something similar today - how my life at school and college seems to be not my life at all but someone else's. It's so weird looking back on things I did that seem lightyears away from who I am now. I don't know if it's a consequence of university or a symptom of growing up but either way I don't like it at all! :D
