I agree wholeheartedly with what you've stated here. Since the Bible does speak to what true love is, you might include some of those Scripture references. Although the Bible doesn't speak specifically to whether or not we should say "I love you" to our dates, it does speak to not being deceptive and regarding others above ourselves. My experience tells me that usually when a boyfriend/girlfriend says those three words, they are looking to hear it spoken to themselves. They may have some warm fuzzy feelings, but their motives aren't pure. I think we should examine our motives before using this precious phrase and make sure that we are within the guidelines of Philippians 4:8. That's my word on the subject!
