The New World, with a few spoilers

Feb 21, 2006 23:14

I had Arthur - one of my cats for those who don't know him yet - operated today (just the common "you won't be able to have babies with the whole neighborhood" operation) . Before he went to the vet, the little $^ù%#& realised something strange was happening so he just fought me with all his might and I ended up with two fingers thoroughly ( Read more... )

Ca y est! je dois aller voir ce film!!!!! He looks absolutely gorgeous in that period... he fits perfectly, the cheekbones.... i couldn't stomach the idea of CF in it and i kept forgetting that CB was in there!!!

But if you say it's good to watch, then i will go! It's still playing here in some cinemas... i may even drag the hubby to take in this one...

As for Matchpoint, which is finally here, i hope to see that this weekend on my gals' nite out!!

Beautiful wall btw... loved all the colors! saved it! :D

Oui, tu dois ! It seems people either enjoy the movie, or they think it's annoying, so I hope you'll love it ;) As for your hubby, I don't know if he's of this kind of men who likes movies only with fights and guns, because there's a few combat scenes but it's not a major part of the movie (fortunately !!).

I was a bit "afraid" about CF too, and although I really think he was bad compared to the other actors, he didn't prevent me from enjoying the film, which would just have been even better and lively with someone else playing the main role (it's a shame Christian appears only for the last part !! ;D). I remember now seeing CF in Minority Report and this kind of "stoicism" he seems to be showing constantly worked in MR but not in TNW.

Enjoy Match Point and tell us what you think about it. I know you're gonna love it. JRM is just droolable in this one ;) And thanks about the wall ;D

*sigh* i still don't know if they gonna show the movie here... it's quite strange cuz it seems that the whole city is just a big Farrell fan club (well, the whole city except me...)
so i'm still waiting(((

Oh thanks ! And I friended you back :D

I'm crossing my fingers for you, I know how it feels : Laurel Canyon was never released here, it went directly to DVD and it's just not the same *crossing fingers again*

A big Farrell fan club ? I'm sure it's the so-called "bad boy" reputation. You have to show them how wrong it is !! and which guy is really admirable ;D

^_^

thank you... i've just looked through release-list for the next three years and there's not even a word about the movie. If i find the guys who wrote and planned it i should have my favourite knife with me))))

oh yes... my dad was reading some magazine today and said something like "there's a lot of bad boys around, they just chose one to think he's talented". how cute ^_^
and sure, i have to ;)

I understand, I often have very bad thoughts about the guys who decide of the release dates here ! It's such a pain to have to avoid all your friends' posts when you haven't seen the latest movie everybody's talking about...

Bad boys are like girls with big boobs, they can impress people for a while but it doesn't mean they have talent ;)

I can't abide Colin Farrell. Ugh! He's so... stupid-looking. Isn't that nice and nonjudgmental? ;)

I cannot express how HOT CB looks with long hair and a beard. I was so conflicted watching him as Jesus. And the period clothing is divine.

You're the nicest and nonjudgmental-est person I know, Alex, so you have to be right about this :D Well, maybe I wouldn't go as far as you but I really don't see the attraction...

What I DO see is CB total hotness. And come on ! you enjoyed it all the more because he played Jesus, you twisted Catholic girl ;D You and me are too much alike on this to hide, so remember Marie-Madeleine (how do you call her in English ?) and go with it ! *fans self remembering some hot S&P sex scenes in a church*

And yeah about period clothing ! ;)

wow! what a gorgeous wallpaper, siriala. and I'm not even a CB fan...but somehow, you've made me want to go see the movie. maybe this weekend, i will make hubby take me.

and as for Match Point (i saw you and rose talking about it) i loved that movie!! even my husband liked it, and he hates British movies, and he hates Woody Allen movies, but that movie was totally awesome. What an amazing twist at the end, eh?

hope you're having a good day!!!

You'll have to tell us what you thought about it if you go and see TNW, ok ? It's just so nice to see you've been able to pass a bit of your interest/love for something and make people want to see it for themselves ;)

Oh yes, I loved Match Point to no end ! Great twist, that I appreciated even more on second viewing ;D I'm told it's not a usual Woody Allen movie, but how can someone "hate" British movies ? o_O They've done so many incredible films ! What kind of movie does he enjoy ?

New day here, sorry I didn't reply yesterday. I went to see another movie (a French one this time ;)) and just fell asleep quickly after that. Hope you'll have a great day too, and a good night first ;D

oh, so you think the twist is even better on the second viewing in Match Point? kind of like Stay, where the first time, you're like WTF? and the second time you start to see all the little things? wait, is Stay out for you guys yet? Sorry, I forgot. Well, you'll get it soon, I'm sure.

My hubby is so into cars, gangsters, war and stuff like that. He thinks British movies are silly, unless there's war in them. oh well...he doesn't know what he's missing. and you're right, that was totally not anything like a Woody Allen film, which may account for the reason it was actually good. ;p

i hope you have a weekend filled with fun, darling! i'll let you know if I get a chance to go see TNW. okay?

au revoir!

Hey ! You speak French !! :D

*sobbing* No Stay before July, I'm inconsolable *cries some more*

Your hubby's taste for movies reminds me of my parents and I when I was young enough to go to the movies with them. It was always a fight to decide, particularly between my father and I ! I have seen some really good films thanks to him (Star Wars and Excalibur come to mind, I didn't want to see them because I thought I'd be afraid but I loved them to pieces) but I've also suffered through terrible ones (think James Bond !) ;)

I can't wait to see this movie. I have it downloaded but i think i wanna wait to see it on the big screen. I loved The Thin Red Line, it's so poetical :) I hope i'm gonna like it, cause so far i've heard some bad things about it. And as you know i love Christian but also Colin (poor boy just had a bad time since Alexander, i hope he'll get through all this) So yeah, i'm really curious, i might take a look at the downloaded version O_o Thanks for the pics!

I have the same problem with Stay and I think I'm going to wait for the US DVD which will be released a long time before it will be on the big screens here.

So I have at least one CF fan on my flist ;) I hope for you that you'll find him far better and interesting than me in TNW. I was reading through an article about the Miami Vice movie not long ago, and they were not very kind with CF once again.

The only other people I know here who's seen TNW didn't like it at all, I guess you have to let the magic of the movie act on you to really appreciate it. But I've read as many good reviews as bad ones. And even the very bad ones said that Q'Orianka and Christian were very good ;)

Yes, i'm a Colin fan ;P Though he's having a hard time lately, and in candid pics he often looked like a hobo.. Have you seen Tigerland or Phone Booth, i think he was very good in those. I've only read two or three The New World reviews on my flist so far, and the first one made me very nervous. It was from a Colin fan and she walked out of the movie! I think she said that his character wouldn't come back anyway and so she left cause she hated the movie so much.. And i was looking forward to The New World, cause i can't believe he signed up to do Miami Vice, ugh! Not interested in that one at all, so i had all my hopes up for this one. Because of the director and Christian and the story (and lol, there's a Dutch actor in it as well XD) I hope i'm gonna like this movie.. But since i've read some bad reviews i'm kinda prepared now, and if Colin isn't that good in it then i'm not afraid to admit it. But i have to say that i think i prefer this look to the blond Alexander XD ( ... )

Apart from Minority Report, I know I've seen CF in a movie, I think it was also with Al Pacino but I'm not sure at all and I can't remember the title because I caught it on TV as it had already begun. I didn't find CF very attracting. I read he made one, where he played a gay man, that was quite good, is it one of those you said ?

Christian is in TNW only for the last part, say for half an hour maybe. It's hard to say because I thought the movie passed so much quicker when he was on screen ;) You never see him before he appears suddenly, not even in passing. On the contrary, Colin appears again near the end for a short while. Christian's part may be short, but it's a powerful one and his character is just lovely, the man a lot of women would dream of ;)

I did feel uncomfortable during the John Smith/Pocahontas romantic scenes, and not at all during the John Rolfe/Pocahontas ones, so there's hope for you if you find that CF plays better than I thought :D
