/is totally everywhere how? The magic of RP of course! history_pirate June 9 2010, 23:48:25 UTC
Robin is keeping her distance, for now. It isn't that she fears the water- she grew up sailing the high seas, after all. But something seems extremely not right about this particular lake, and a little caution never hurt anybody.

Still, though she may be cold at times, she isn't cruel, and it seems that cranky Yorkshire man might be needing a bit of assistance. She passed a handkerchief down to the lakeshore using a trail of manos fleur, sprouted a hand out of his side, and passed it up where he could reach it easily, even with his head tilted back.

"Handkerchief?" she offered, her voice carrying over the distance.

Severus shut his eyes, grimacing as the blood trickled down the back of his throat. He opened his eyes to stare up at the sky while he considered his next course of action. He would stay, but only to perform a few more tests. Yes. He had found out the impact of the lake's waters on living creatures, next he would have to test the impact of the water on a plant. He supposed he could uproot a chunk of grassy earth and take that...

"Handkerchief?" Someone called and Snape tilted his head forward, quite surprised to see a hand offering him a handkerchief. He looked down sharply, then to his right. No one was there and he was quite sure that he'd have noticed someone coming so close to him. Then where had this - there was an arm protruding from his stomach.

Had he tarried too long by the radioactive waters? No. Where would the handkerchief have come from? Or the voice? Severus staggered backward, away from the lake and he pointed his wand at the base of the arm. "Diffindo!" Severus Snape might have been panicked at having suddenly ( ... )

The arm he'd so callously blasted at disappeared entirely, leaving a few pointed flower petals that floated to the ground along with the handkerchief.

Robin grunted- rather unladylike- as the force of the spell transferred to a point just below her shoulder. She rubbed it with her other hand, kneading the sore muscle. Fortunately, her own body never took on the full effects of an attack against her summoned fleur.

"A simple 'No, thank you' would have sufficed," she said, rather indignant.

The arm disappeared. He stared down at the place where it had been sticking out of his body, then reached down to touch the place. There was nothing there. No ragged, bleeding stump. Not even a trickle of blood.

Was he hallucinating? Severus lifted his head as that voice called out to him again. He looked around, then caught sight of a young woman some ways away. Had she done this? Severus touched his forehead with the tips of his fingers.

He stared out after her, then spoke. "Are -" His voice was high and uneven. He cleared his throat, forcing himself to calm before he spoke again. "Excuse me. Are you real?"

Whitebeard was also conducting his own investigations of sorts. It wasn't as though he felt all earthquakes should originate from him, but if there was a particular fault line under the island, he'd need to know in advance. He wasn't planning on using his devil fruit, too dangerous on an island this small, but he didn't want anything to accidentally happen either.

However, no natural fault line could be found, even with the aftershocks, so he approached the lake with some trepidation.

Being twenty five feet tall, he stuck out like a small wandering building, which meant having to take extra care near the large, no longer so flat, surface. Oh well, he wasn't entirely unused to people running away in fear. Though usually from his reputation more than height.

The earth began to shake and Severus dropped his hand from his nose, looking around with some worry. Was an earthquake starting again? No. No, the tremors were too uniform. There was a pattern to it. It was almost like...

There. There was a giant walking toward the lake. Severus' eyes narrowed and he pointed his wand at the huge creature. How had it gotten here? This was not a giant's natural habitat. There was not enough room. Severus wiped at his nose again with his free hand.

Brought in by the pull, then? Severus eyed the monster. The inhabitants of this city were strange, certianly, but this place was not nearly large enough to support a colony of giants. Still. The creature was not nearly as grotesque as the giants he was used to seeing.

Severus sighed deeply, then spoke in a loud clear voice to attract the giant's attention. His speech was slow and careful, as if he were speaking to someone with severely damaged mental functions. "You. Do. Not. Belong. Here. This. Is. A. Human. Place. Go. Back. To. Your. Cave."

Whitebeard arched an eyebrow coolly. Well, it wasn't the most insulting greeting he'd ever had. "I don't live in a cave, thank you," he laughed, almost relieved that the person hadn't just screamed and run away. Maybe it bode well for the rest of the city. "And I am human." That one was going to be harder to explain. So far it seemed most people here thought anyone taller than six feet or so was a giant. The pirate would rather have liked to see them deal with the general denizens of the Grand Line. Especially Elbaf where the giants were over a hundred feet tall. Or better yet, Oars Jr since that particular lad was closer to four hundred feet high.

Severus was quite surprised when the giant spoke so clearly. Even half giants didn't seem to be fully capable of grasping the concepts of the English language. Well, then. Severus' expression grew sour as the giant proclaimed that he was 'human'. No, he had given the giant too much credit. Clearly it could not understand English very well.

"No." He said. "You are not a human. Humans do not grow to that height. And if you do not have a cave, I suggest you return to whatever hole you happen to live in. Creatures like you are not welcome in human cities."

With all the interesting goings on, it only made sense for Orochimaru to pay a personal visit to the lake. While he had capable assistants, this was something he wanted to see to personally. Or as personal as he could get while controlling a clone of himself. It was quite the useful technique--one he had learned during his years with Akatsuki and spent time perfecting on his own. He had successfully increased the clone's chakra capacity to sixty percent. It was far more useful to him now.

So it was that Orochimaru found himself surveying the chaotic state of the lake. He could not help but smirk as he noticed the wizard he had met before. Of course he would be here too.

Orochimaru masked his chakra until he was close enough to speak comfortably.

"My, how surprising to see you here."

Severus turned around at the familiar, hissing voice. It was that strange man again. His grip on his wand tightened. There were no walls for the stranger to disappear into this time. Although, Severus would not dismiss the possibility that could slide into the ground instead.

"Is that so." He said, sounding bored with Orochimaru. "I can't say that I am surprised to see you here. You seem to turn up at the most inopportune moments. It has become rather bothersome."

He folded his arms over his chest. "What is it that you want this time?"
