Now that I've finished 2/3's of my finals... /SLAMS INTO THIS THREAD merely_a_doll December 7 2011, 06:15:21 UTC
With little to no experience concerning vigilantes and superheroes, Caster had to accumulate all her knowledge based on observation. Fortunately, it was a relatively simple task when she could use her magic without actually being present. As a result, she learned about the plight that would befall one of the ships, and she promptly let Mercury slip his way inside the vessel.

However, unless there was a last minute change or an unexpected interference, things evidently didn’t follow according to the pirates’ plans.

An explosion sounded with a bang, and the entire ship lurched as if nauseated. Those on deck scrambled about in a frenzy, clearly seeking an escape from the inevitable submersion ( ... )

Batgirl burst out of the water a minute or two later, the man who had accosted her in arm. She tossed him roughly onto the shore and shot his unconscious form a nasty look before returning to the boat. Everyone but the highest paid workers was fleeing the scene. The sudden rush of water put out the fire almost instantly from the outside but the boat was still sinking. This time nobody tried to stop her as she made her way onto the boat and down the floors.

Along the way she passed a very silver man (a little Captain Atom-esque, she thought to herself) who looked like he was trying to help. She wasn't about to refuse.

"Hey! If you want to help, follow me. Lowest levels first, check for fires. Apparently there are explosives on board." Yes, she was a little bitter, but mostly she was upset with herself. It was a stupid mistake, not getting enough info on the goods to be stolen. She should never have let them open fire.

The man in silver slowed as the blonde darted past him, seemingly registering the arrival of a presence different from those on board. It was difficult not to notice the beads of water that clung to the blonde's clothes. Presumably, she fell into the water when the entire vessel keeled.

"Understood," he finally answered, swiftly falling in step with the young woman. "But...you are drenched. Have you sustained any injuries?"

His voice emerged in a distinctly mechanized tone, and yet, the pitch as it voiced the last question was an octave softer than the rest of it. If one was paying attention, it was a sign of concern.

From the sounds of it, the thing was either an android or using a voice modulator. She hadn't spent enough time with Red Tornado to be able to tell and this wasn't the time to worry about it. She shook her head, ignoring the bruises hidden by her suit and thanking whoever would listen for Barbara and her fireproof tech.

"Nothing bad. Other guy's unconscious. There may be others injured downstairs." She didn't stop to look back at him but rather lead the way as quickly as she could without losing him.

"We have to get them out before this thing goes under." Her tone was curt and quick. If there were any fatalities tonight, any at all, they were her fault. She wasn't about to let that happen.
