[Cass isn't the only one who's thinking about winter clothing today. The Assassin is in the store today too, looking a bit lost. He had not had to worry about what to wear in years. It would be one thing if he was just buying something just to throw on when he was forced to be outside, but since he (regretfully) was forced to be a productive member of society here, he was going to figure out how to dress without looking like a fool. He already has one strike against him with his rather unfortunate hair color. It turned out it was rather difficult to find colors that coordinated with petal pink.

He glanced up from the clearance racks of (to his chagrin) women's shirts when she comes in, watching her with casual disinterest.]

[She's looking at some simple, long sleeved shirts, but they're all made with a thinner material than she's expecting out of "winter-wear". She frowns as she ponders over it, taking one down and holding it up. It says it's her size, but the sleeves only go down just past her elbows. Not very productive...

She spots a few things in black nearby and goes to look at them. They're not thick but they're long, and they're perfect for any sort of simple jacket she can find. That'll do.]

[He finally realizes that he is in fact, looking at women's clothing and backs off, looking a little annoyed. It would have been nice if things had been labeled a little more clearly. He gives Cass a vestige of an embarrassed smile and moves over towards what he hopes is the men's clearance. ]

You would think they would make more winter clothes for such a cold place.

[He's talking half to himself, half to her, trying to enliven the drudgery of having to look for clothing.]

[He's talking to her? No, not really. She looks up anyway and blinks at the smile. She turns back to the shirt in her hand.]

It's a cheap store. Not surprising.

[Not much of a talker, unfortunately. She turns the shirt over and drapes it over her arm.]

How long have you been here?

[ It's not often that she allows herself a chance to take this shape. In fact, it's increasingly rarer for every bounty hunter encountered. Tonight has been good so far though, and after allowing herself a brief flight, she's settled down onto a rooftop to enjoy another favored activity: inflicting misery.

Tonight it's on a small, winged mutation. The thing is trapped under one giant paw while the other works, almost delicately, to pluck off its feathery wings. There are an awful lot of feathery wings to plurk off. She'd have thought it used to be a bird for them all, if not for the giant compound eyes and hooves. ...Man. The denizens of the night around here are really weird. It still screeches quite pleasingly in pain, though. ]

[She'd been told of a dragon hanging around. In fact, she'd heard about the second dragon to appear in the Port and she's really wanted to see them. So it's her lucky night when she hears the screeching of a monster and looks up to see the dragon ripping into it slowly. She uses a grappling hook to get up to the rooftop beside the dragon's to get a closer look.

Let her be spotted. She doesn't mind. She's just never seen something like this before. Superheroes and powers aside, this is a rare occasion.]

wow "to plurk off". you can tell where i am too often. pluck* :( fantasycliche November 20 2011, 08:13:08 UTC
[ She's aware immediately of her visitor. There's a lot to give her away, after all. A dragon's eyes don't miss much in the dark, and then there's the faint noises a living body makes, and of course her scent. It's the fact that she's not trying to hide herself more than anything that keeps Khisanth relaxed, though. This probably isn't someone looking for a fight. Which would normally be disappointing, but fights are actually something to be avoided here, as strange as that is.

She waits until her prey has lost two more limbs before glancing over, head swiveling on its long neck. ]

Hello.

[ Pleasant, almost cordial. An odd contrast to the pained wailing underscoring it. ]

[She hops over to the rooftop upon which the dragon sits, though she doesn't tread any closer. Curiosity has its weak points but she knows not to intrude too much. She takes a moment to just look Khisanth over, quietly marveling at the look of the scales, the size of her, and her impressive claws.]

Hi.

[Is this the one her father and Clark have seen? She's not sure.]

It attacked you?

[Obviously, she's talking about the little creature under her claw.]

"Kuchiki-sensei, please."

The arrogant man barely looked at the young woman following him. "Leave."

"But -"

He glanced at her out of the corner of his eye, his grey eyes colder than the ice that his fellow taichou could summon. He turned with a flare of a scarf and the girl was left on the sidewalk and burst into tears, turning to run away.

Byakuya hoped she didn't run into Hitsugaya. He stopped at a coffee shop and bought himself a warm cup of tea to take with him as he wandered.

That was a pretty cruel sendoff. Cass watched as the girl ran off in tears, waiting outside of the coffee shop for her own coffee. She didn't even know what to think. The man carried himself highly and the woman addressed him with respect. Still, he didn't care.

She didn't know the story. She wasn't sure she wanted to.

"Who was she?" she asked quietly, looking over.

Byakuya was surprised that anyone spoke to him. Most people didn't. They understood the air of nobility that said they shouldn't. He glanced at the woman who spoke, holding his tea easily.

"No one of importance." Now he was curious. Most didn't talk to him. He can linger for a moment.

She wasn't afraid of being looked down on. If nothing else, it would suit her disguise. Still, she looked at him squarely, curious as well. "Not important to you, maybe." But she was important to someone. "She thought otherwise."

Cass turned back to where the girl was for a moment and then back to the counter to get her tea. Assam. "Why did you turn her away?"

[ Lois got here in the height of summer. It is now approaching late November, December's coming up, and she is near to wanting to throttle her boyfriend for not needing to dress warmly. She has been trying to hide her shivers for a week or two now; with the latitude difference, she hadn't been mentally prepared. But she's finally given up.

On the other hand: shopping. She doesn't know how long she'll be here, but it's not like the money will come back with her, so brand new wardrobe it is.

And, speaking of coats, Lois is on the hunt for a few. On the one hand, she doesn't make enough to go with the really expensive stuff; on the other hand, she wants decent quality and good enough to look professional. Thus, today finds her out looking at wool trench coats in varying colors--at the moment, a nice dark pink which she is regarding critically. There's already one in solid crimson on her arm--and maybe an incidental vest and button down or three. It's entirely possible one is dark blue.

(Did you really expect her to not accidentally ( ... )

[Lois is easy to spot, not because of the colors at first, but because she's Lois. She exudes an air of confidence and warmth as she walks and she's focused on getting the job done, whatever the case may be. And today, she's going after clothes. Cass glances up from her work when she sees her and she smiles briefly.

She wanders close and looks at the clothes in her hand. Family colors indeed.]

Stocking up?

[ Hey look, it's Cass. A nice enough girl on her own, and one Lois had hoped to talk to--if only because chatting with people even from alternate-home makes her feel less homesick. Of course, she's also one of those myriad Gothamites who is not a supervillain. It's dangerous to make assumptions, but Lois basically has at this point about those kids.

It all adds up to give Lois a reason to grin a little. ]

Yeah. Love the new wardrobe I've got, but looking good's not gonna do much if I freeze to death first. You?

[ She nods at the coat Cass is wearing. ]

[Good. She smiles a little more when Lois perks up, glad to see she's okay. Winter's always dreary but the homesickness is worse. For Cass, it's not so bad; Bruce is here and so are most of the other Robins and Stephanie. But it must be different for Lois, even if Clark is there.

She laughs a little at the joke.]

Just looking for a few things.

[Jackets, warmer shirts, gloves, a scarf or two...and not all of them are for her.]

It's colder here than back home already.

[ It's not as if she'd hang up if he just called her and asked. He doesn't think so, anyway. But somehow it's better if this looks casual. Accidental.

Tracking her at any time of the day without her knowing about it first is probably doomed to be one the most frustrating exercises in futility there is, so when he finally does catch her there in the scarf, the half-surprised, half-sheepish wave he offers is really pretty authentic. ]

[Dick is undeniably recognizable, even younger, but this is mostly because he doesn't blend in well with the people in this sector. He looks healthy, well-fed, and much more amiable than the others. She looks over and smiles, raising a hand.]

Hi.

[She wanders over to his side.]

You okay?

Yeah. [ It's nice that she'd ask, though. On impulse, he hands over one of the coffee cups he's holding. He was planning on drinking them both, but- ]

[She gives him a smile and takes it, holding it between her hands. It helps to warm them a little. With a nod of her head, she gestures for him to follow her. It'll be easier to talk where they might not be heard.]

Thanks. I...usually drink tea.

[But coffee's good too.]

Getting colder out.
