Angeal Penance breaks the late morning quietness at the baseball diamond with its arrival, the monstrous form towering over the pitcher's mound and unsteady on its feet. The final blow had already been struck though, making him weak, the voids furthering that as the effects latch onto him.
The monster collapses onto its front knees, an unearthly sound escaping it as it felt itself being torn apart. One voice spilt into many; one for each part: griffon, ahriman, hound, sahagin, man. Each bore his face as their mark, they are his, but Angeal is weakened but not how he should be.This was not the Lifestream, this was not death; As he raises his head and brilliant blue eyes looked out at what was around ( ... )

His sword lashed out as soon as he was close enough, a Fang Blade headed straight for the first monstrosity.

He isn't downed yet, and though he feels heavy and knows he is injured, he doesn't know why.
The screams of the people and monsters around him do rouse Angeal into action though, standing up with a bit of a stagger. "Cease!" If the words to Asch and his attack or to the monsters, it was hard to tell, but they do pull back around the man, save for the flying monster impaled on the redhead's sword.

He paused, before holding his sword up to guard, edging forward cautiously. "Are these your monsters?" he demanded.

Unfortunately, closer inspection paints a very different tale. The young boy is very pale and thin, like he's obviously been suffering from something for quite some time. His breathing is also very labored, and it almost seems like his body is going to give up any minute.

"Come on, try and stay awake, okay? I'm gonna help you as much as I can, kid..."

She stood quickly, dizzy but determined. But this place didn't look like the train tracks. She looked up. And rain hadn't been in the forecast for the day, either. She glanced down at her body, her hands feeling for any gaping wounds or broken bones. Nothing, not even blood on her clothing. She felt something in her jacket and opened it up, finding a tablet-like device.
She tried to shield it from the rain as best as she could while trying to figure out what the hell was going on.

Making her way over Helen took a quick moment to analyse the situation - disorientation, as usual from the pull of the Core, but seemingly no injuries. She was lucky - many that Helen had seen arrive had been worse than her.
It didn't take long to cross the field and soon Helen was by her, moving her umbrella to shelter the young girl from the rain. "Are you all right?" A relative question, but it would help her to know of any injuries or conditions that Helen couldn't detect by eye. Everyone took to the Port and hearing of it differently and she couldn't help but wonder how this would turn.

"I'm afraid that I can't quite answer what is going on, however, that's a little unknown to even those that have been here for several years." She gives the girl an apologetic smile.
"My name's Helen. Would you prefer to sit somewhere? What I do know can be a rather long explanation." And shocking.

A man -- a boy? -- dressed in a long, dark cloak thick with dirt and travel dust rolling, hurling over the ground into a dark heap.
No. A woman.
It was a woman who stirred, pushed her head up, balling her fists in the dirt. A woman, dressed in clothing faintly reminiscent of ancient China, male clothing, her hair bound high. She pushed up; the air kicked up suddenly around her, scattering the thick grit like raining sand against the dugout walls.
"Shit . . ."
Not a very ladylike word, but she didn't seem to care. Twisting, her eyes raked across the dugout areas. "Where the hell is this?"
Louder, "Takiko? Her elbows jolted, caught at the point of weakness, almost faceplanting her back into the dust. Her teeth knifed into her lower lip, and perhaps by sheer force of will, she remained with what little bit of upright position ( ... )

A delicate, darkly gloved hand reached out to settle on the girl’s shoulders with the intention of steadying her. It belonged to a hooded woman enshrouded in a bluish-black robe, which may have seemed more like another silhouetted shape in the Darkness. A gentle smile lightly curved lips sleeked in a violet hue, before she spoke again.
"Everyone that comes here feels like this, including myself," Caster calmly continued in a soothing voice. "But it will pass. Right now, you are in a world separate from your own, so don’t worry about time. Whatever happens here should not affect your original timeline."

So much for not moving quickly, though; the suddenness of the movement brought a wave of dizziness and the sudden urge to vomit. Uruki locked her teeth against it, biting down into the inside of her cheek until the moment passed. This in itself was no help; the taste of copper trickled onto her tongue.
Time and her timeline were the last things on her mind at that moment. "Who're you?" The words came out sharp; for all she knew, this hooded woman could well have been the one to bring her here.

"I am Caster," she answered, speaking softly to the poor girl. "I am like you, taken to this world without any knowledge or action on my part. Now it is my duty to inform others who come here about their circumstances."
She allowed for a moment of pause, giving the other some time to ask anything she would like before she launched into her explanation. Sympathy colored her voice with gentle warmth, akin to the treatment one would give a wounded creature. After all, she understood well how it felt to arrive into the City, disoriented and raw with aches and scratches.

He stares in blank confusion for a while. He was left in the darkness with earth covering his face, sneaking into his mouth and eyes, trapped. But now there's the sight of the sky. Is he hallucinating? Has he passed on? What's happening?
He's still in pieces. It doesn't seem like Jashin's taken him back.]
... What... what the HELL?
[He's very loud. Hear that, Greeters?
ooc: if you wish to contact me I can be caught on AIM at Sushiflop!]

[Yes, she knows she shouldn't be out here alone. She knows Sephiroth would be annoyed with her for it, but it was still her job and she was trying very hard not to fear it.]
[Besides... how do you fear a screaming head?]
[Wait... --she looked back to the field again, seeing a head? Yelling what the hell? Startled, the girl started off towards the... parts, a hand covering over her open mouth. She looked back to see if her Second was around, before looking back to the head.]
H-hello? [Called out to him, from a short distance because... well... this is really weird.]

[ As a result, she reaches the dugout just in time to hear a loud man -- and a startled girl looking towards a severed head. The scattered parts of his body gave her heart a start, but there was a more pressing matter to tend first. ]
[ If she could help it, Caster never ran, but she certainly hurried over to the girl's side as fast as she could while walking. Her robe fluttered softly as she suddenly drew one arm around the young lady's shoulders, intending to pull her towards her chest. With her other, darkly gloved hand, she protectively clutched the side of the girl's face to keep it turned away from the grotesque sight. ]
Don't look! [ But it was probably too late. ]
[ Her hooded head turns towards the remaining, conscious piece of the Newcomer. ] As for you, don't be alarmed. We're here to explain your circumstances.
